Do you eat Ramen with authentic chopsticks? :)
Yes. LoL I learned to use chop sticks from kids shows when in was a young child, it was fun to be a white kid in a Chinese restaurant, showing off I knew how to use them while no one else i went with knew how. I used to enjoy going to a pho restaurant before covid as well... I even use the same spoon as them with the broth at home as well... i have a whole section in my cutlery drawer, where the knives are ment to go, is just chopsticks.
For a period of time even used to go to the asian grocery store but found I spent too much there when I went so I avoid it now as I haven't really been able to afford much lately. I find their culture and food so intriguing. I tend to find most cultures intriguing, and like to learn all about people and where they come from. I would say we live in the best part of the world to learn and embrace all peoples and their ways.

Pho Bac in Chinatown is my go-to!

There are a lot of restaurants in MTL!

China town is the best place to get real Chinese food, as what we find in these restaurants elsewhere is often american Chinese food. Though most other asian restaurants seem pretty authentic to their cultures, I think... I might be wrong though.

ooh! That’s right up my alley!

I guess I am what one would call a foodie, in that I adore trying all the food from all the places from shitty food cart in Guadalajara to Le Cinq off the Champs Élysées. I was also blessed with a fantastic metabolism and raging adhd which means I have dopamine food fixations that come in phases from a couple weeks to a couple months.

For those who don’t know, dopamine foods are foods that will give my brain extra extra dopamine (like a good work out or sex), which adhd brains lack, and so we eat them ALLLLLLL the time, until one day we take a bite and nearly puke because it doesn’t taste the same and that closes that phase. It’s as intense as a pregnancy craving but you need it all day to be “normal” like one needs his next bump.
I digress…

Current dopamine food:
Caribbean food
(Seasoned Dreams has this amazing Mac and cheese jerk chicken poutine to which I add a side of griot and plantain- wow!!!!)
Five Guys fries dipped in chocolate/bacon milkshake (if they’re closed, any fry and milkshake will do).
(previous was Boustan and before that grilled cheese)

Childhood/forever comfort food: mine or my late mom’s lasagna, Greek roasted lamb and lemon potatoes, butter chicken & naan.

…. speaking of fries and milkshake … current situation:

which places for Poutine?

Regular poutine:
Lafleur: classic
Benny’s
Chef on call
La Poutinerie

La banquise is a classic that’s always suggested but so overrated.

“Out there” poutine:
Seasoned dreams ; heart attack
Boustan’s shawarma poutine
Spice bros’ butter chicken poutine
Lloydie's St-Viateur’s plantain poutine (to die for)
