WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS MOVIE?

Do you go for the old classics like White Christmas or a Wonderful Life,
or are you more of a Home Alone type of person or even Die Hard?

As much as I love old movies, I have to say elf is almost on a constant loop
in this house during this time of year!

2 of my favourite scenes:
Santa's Coming
He's an Angry Elf

So what's your favourite?

There are so many i could name.

The one i've loved the most has to be White Christmas.

Other favorites that i could watch over and over again:

-National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
-Die Hard
-The Christmas Tree
-It's a Wonderful Life
-Miracle on 34th Street (i loved all versions, but i prefer the first one with Natalie Wood and Edmund Gwenn)

-Elf
-Little House on the Prairie: Christmas at Plum Creek

Believe it or not, i've yet to see "A Christmas Story". Hopefully i'll get to watch it this year. Another 'Christmas' movie that i'd like to watch is "The Polar Express".

I must say that it is a tradition for me to spend Christmas eve watching It's a wonderful life, some pate with a baguette and tortiere. Add to that a nice glass of wine and an early evening, nothing better.

I believe it, I haven't seen "A Christmas Story" either Doc.
Saw "The Polar Express" though, The animation kinda creeped me out... the movie scared me a little lol!

Family Man

That was indeed a surprisingly very good movie also.

By the way, i just remembered one of my all-time favorites that i forgot to list: The Bishop's Wife. I'm referring to the original version with Cary Grant, Loretta Young & David Niven. An absolutely great movie! I have never seen the newer version with Denzel Washington.

As for my two favorite Quebecois Xmas movies, i give you Nez Rouge and Maria Chapdelaine. Ne Rouge stars Patrick Huard and is hillarious! Maria Chapdelaine is based on a classic novel and stars Carole Laure and Nick Mancuso. The ending still haunts me even though i've read the book once while in high school and saw the movie three or four times.

Probably the one I like the most: Joyeux Noël

I've had it in my dvd collection for the past two years, but have yet to watch it. I believe it's based on a true story.

You may also like one of the movies i mentioned earlier, The Christmas Tree. You may have seen it in french when you grew up as a child. In french it's called "L'Arbre de Noel". I believe it was released in both languages at the time. It stars William Holden, Bourvil, Virna Lisi and Brooke Fuller. It's about a millionaire's young child who wind up with leukemia due to being exposed to radioactivity and his father decides to spoil him like crazy and give him whatever he wants since he knows his days are numbered. The ending is very touching every time i see it. I downloaded the movie many years ago. I don't know if it's now available on dvd.

And finally, even though i haven't included it on my list, can "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" be considered a holiday movie? This may be the late John Candy's greatest role yet. Steve Martin was also very good in that great movie.
