I would rather listen to thrash music to calm my anger instead of Djivan. Nothing against him. I love his music. But it is better suited when you are sad or not wound up. I have a number of his albums and listen to him quite often. The duduk has a very unique sound, almost melancholy.
I accept what causes my anger but I do not have to be ok with it. There is nothing I can do to change it, it is in the past but still fresh in my mind.

you can validate the anger with some good thrash music or you can question why anger in the first place? what does it accomplish? who does it hurt besides yourself?
It is reluctance and fear of accepting something we know to be true but refuse to admit.
The Dali Lama said anger is a sign of weakness - let it go and stop hurting yourself.

Djivan Gasparyan puts things into perspective for me
I couldnt find any links to any of his pure duduk music

maybe it will help put the anger behind you....maybe not

It needed to be loud when I posted the question. I was certainly in the mood for it that day. A punching bag would have served better. I try to avoid hitting things in the house as they tend to break.

I listened to Waters Edge and Margaret. Both great songs. I really liked the entire album. Devil Boy is one that I particularly liked also.
I liked this album. I added to my collectio on RDIO. Not as loud as I was hoping but it is good music.
Talking about Seven Mary Three

Some of their songs are pretty loud. Does it have to be loud to make your anger go away?
Take the time to listen to Waters edge and Margaret from their first album. My favorites.

Is no music consider a music style?
Music is the last thing on my mind when I am angry...which is rare ,not because I attain zen like stratosphere like jellydo but just because I guess I am lazy and it takes too much energy to be mad and way less to ignore what can make you angry.
Like I often say : if I was a bird I would be an ostrich , not for the size obviously lol but for the way it can pretend something is not there loll..

Angry Samoans. Too cheerful to be angry but relevant in terms of ignoring things.

As for anger, there is always the Dirty Rotten Imbeciles. Ah DRI, they ease the pain.

I would rather go hit the bag if I'm angry than listen to music. Music will relax me only for a short time.

I never get angry. Life's too short to waste it on being angry. I do get irritated with petty little things once in a while. But angry? No.

You're right but it isn't always so easily controlled. When I started this thread, I was a very angry person. My kids were my coping mechanism, but when they were at school, I had my music.

I don't, or haven't been angry since early April. Took some time to reach the point where I just said "fuck it" and stopped letting it bother me.

Anyway, I think to be able to have your attitude or control, a person has to go through something serious so that everything else to them is now just a petty annoyance.

Alyssa,

Thanks for the great list of music. Some of them I already know, and my favorite band is also listed. I've got some new albums/bands toisten to thanks to you. Really appreciate it.

Wow Alyssa, I love your list! I think I'll put it on my iPod!
Myself being a metalhead (maybe slightly older?), I am more than partial to...

Slayer... anything from Hell Awaits, Reign in Blood or the EP Haunting the Chapel/ Live Undead is sure to calm me down.. .especially Raining Blood, Chemical Warfare and Angel of Death...
1st album by Rage against the Machine... especially Bullet in the Head
Anthrax, though they are often too nice, he he he... but Sound of White Noise contains some pretty intense songs (Sodium Penthotal...1000 Points of Hate... Packaged Rebellion...Only) which put my mood on ice...
Oh, and how can I forget about the 1st Metallica album... KIll 'em All !! :)
