Look behind you.
Talking Heads were an American rock band formed in 1975 in New York City and active until 1991. The band was composed of David Byrne (lead vocals, guitar), Chris Frantz (drums), Tina Weymouth (bass), and Jerry Harrison (keyboards, guitar). Described as "one of the most critically acclaimed bands of the '80s," the group helped to pioneer new wave music by integrating elements of punk, art rock, funk, and world music with avant-garde sensibilities and an anxious, clean-cut image.

We lost Johnny Nash 2 months ago. He is one of the more legendary one hit wonders in music industry history. When he wrote, sang and performed his massive mega hit "I Can See Clearly Now"- a song that has since been covered by many artists- superstardom was predicted for Johnny. It never happened. He was mostly out of the music business by the late 1970s. But back in November 1972, Johnny scored that massive #1 hit for which he was closely identified and remembered for the rest of his life. He might be the single greatest one hit wonder of all time, and if someone can think of someone who was a greater one hit wonder, post it. Here is a blistering live performance of that hit by Johnny, may he RIP:

Here is the studio version:

What is your definition of a one -hit wonder? I Can See Clearly Now is a great song, but he also had top 20 hits with "Hold Me Tight" and Bob Marley's "Stir It Up".
How about the Singing Nun with "Dominique"? An international #1 song, and I don't think she made another record. Or my favorite one hit wonder - Mason Williams with "Classical Gas". (Queen's Gambit favorite.)

The Zombies, Telle her no

Colin Blunstone's voice is pitch perfect. I love his voice.
Sene - A few years ago I was in Montreal on business in either late winter or early Spring and it was freezing cold. I didn't know what I was going to do at night because it was so cold. But I noticed an ad for the Zombies. I could not believe it could be that same group with the original members from the 60's. But it was. I went to the concert that was in an old theatre on E Catherine . And Colin's voice was still amazing. The audience was a mixture of young kids to oldsters and very enthusiastic. A very enjoyable evening on a cold Montreal night.

P.S. - Note about Here Comes the Sun - It is amazing considering how many great songs the Beatles did, that this is the most streamed Beatles song.

Nash did have a couple of other minor hits but I have always seen him included on "one hit wonder" lists, I think because of the magnitude of the hit he scored with "I Can See Clearly Now" and the superstardom that was forecasted for him. It may be somewhat unfair to do so. Mason Williams is definitely in that club though - Classical Gas as big a hit as any one hit wonder ever scored.

Is anyone a fan of disco music? I ask this because I recently watched the new Bee Gees documentary "How Do You Mend a Broken Heart." The Bee Gees had initial success in the late 60's as part of the British invasion. They fell out of favor in the early 70's, but were revitalized when they took up the disco mantle which led to "Saturday Night Fever" fame. But they crashed soon after when the disco backlash began. The documentary said the backlash began with a Disco Demolition Night held at Comiskey Park in July 1979, where disco records were blown up in between a doubleheader between the Chicago and Detroit baseball teams.

I am not a fan of disco music. I don't like the repetitive nature of it or that many of the recordings use loops of music instead of actual instruments. However I do like some of the earlier Bee Gees records, before Barry Gibb starting use that falsetto voice. I like hearing their natural voices and actual instruments. Here's an example:
