Hello merbites,
In continuation of my previous steak thread (how do you like your steak cooked), I figure it's only fitting to compliment that topic with a thread on what type of steak cut do you prefer?

Alright let's talk steaks!

I don't think that there's a cut I don't like. I voted New York strip but I could have also gone with Tomohawk or Bavette. For me if I'm hosting then the Tomohawk is a great option. Bavette with a good red wine reduction makes for a good dinner. IMHO filet mignon is overpriced and over hyped.

Comes down to NY strip vs. top sirloin, voted the latter due to it being cheaper while simultaneously a quality cut. NY usually pretty big (12 oz.) and I usually have more of an appetite for a 8 oz. Whereas the filet mignon is indeed overpriced.

Another great question is whether people like high fat content like A5 wagyu or grass-fed beef from NZ, Australia or Ireland.

Related query would be which steakhouse is your go-to?
Baton Rouge for me even though their quality has slipped somewhat in recent years (they used to offer a 10oz. top sirloin, then retired it which pissed me off to no end, then brought back a 8oz. one at least). The Keg looks like a quality competitor but some of their cuts seem a bit overpriced, plus paying extra for the sauce strikes me as a big rip-off.

Order it medium rare. Otherwise you are disrespectful of the animal that gave its life for you

If sharing then whatever as long it has good marbling. If just for myself a cheap lean cut that goes well with eggs.
