Leafs are indeed Canada's team. No 'ifs' and 'buts' about that. And, Montreal is Quebec's team now that the Nordiques packed their bags & moved to Denver.

Once again:
The Leafs=Canada's team
The Glorias=Quebec's team

There are lots of ''if'' and ''buts''.
I don't beleiev there are as many Laughs fans outside of greater Toronto area than there are Habs,just watch the games they play in westwern Canada and Ottawa,heck even Toronto has many Habs fans.And they don't come from Montreal by the busload unlike those from Toronto.

Even when the Nords were around the Habs still ruled in Quebec.

PS: I doubt that fans in Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver think that the Leafs are Canada's team either.

Where & how do you base your facts on? This is the first time i've ever heard this ridiculous statement.

On one other note, i'm even surprised that the Glorias are Quebec's favorite team. Since the few french-canadian players on that team are marginal players playing secondary roles on a team comprised of a mostly European element, why would Quebecers cheer for that team? Actually, now that i think about it, i'm realizing that your statement isn't as far-fetched as i thought it was. It's all starting to make sense now.

Easy to understand: soccer fans here are walking around wearing Juventus, AC Milan, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Brazil national team, etc... jerseys, all teams with a winning tradition to which they identify. My guess is it must work the same way for European hockey fans.

His - way too long - tenure was catastrophic (beyond Houlian proportions) not only in terms of team performance but also in terms of public perception: Leafs are a risible organization by definition. It will take way more than a few irresolute runs through the playoffs to change that perception.

Tretiak actually flew into Montreal just for the retirement of Ken Dryden's number. He flew out the next day, back to Russia. It shows the respect he has both for Dryden and the Canadiens to make such a long return trip in such a short time frame.

As it dawned upon me while i was looking in my medicine cabinet to find something to keep me awake during the hockey game on RDS, i began to wonder:

1) Do people actually pay money to watch this type of garbage hockey?

2) Is there a team other than the NJ Devils that is as boring to watch as the Habs?

3) If the Habs would actually have a decent coach such as Paul Maurice, they could actually have a decent team & be able to contend in the playoffs. Carbonneau is a terrible coach & he'll look foolish in the playoffs & he'll get outcoached in every game (if they do make the playoffs, that is).

Well, just a few thoughts.....just found what i was looking for to be able to watch my next Habs game.

And yet you're a Leafs fan - the only team that regularly has 15,000 ghosts attend their games.
