No, “ Balkani“ it is a small Eastern European store which sells goods from Poland, Croatia, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and the Check Republic. There is one downtown and one on the South Shore.
I buy spices, sausages, cold cuts, pickled things, pasties even Christmas chocolates and coffee like they had in the old country lol.

I know there's a "Balkani" charcuterie in the Jean Talon market, but I am not familiar with their other stores.

There are two small Eastern European stores on St-Laurent in the Plateau, one Croatian and another Hungarian, and next door there is a bigger store "La Vieille Europe", which is actually a good place to buy coffee beans (they roast them in store.) The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, I followed their advice a few times and they never let me down.

With regard to the Balkani stores yes you are correct it is not downtown it is in the Jean Talon market which btw is a great place to shop for all fruits vegetables pretty much any type of groceries a long time ago when I lived in Park Ex I always shopped at the Jean Talon market.
The other Balkani store is on Grand Allee in Brossard on the South Shore.

Are you sure about Shaugnessy Cafe on Maisonneuve? General Tao?

I tried their coffee and it tasted bitter.

When in Montreal I enjoy a good cup of coffee from Tim Horton's. When all else fails, I've found McDonalds coffee to be a really good substitute when your favorite place is closed.

Same here. And I always have a bag of Tim Horton’s coffee on hand. Driving back to Hoboken/Jersey City from PA last week I actually stopped at the Tim Horton’s in Allentown. Not bad and pretty close to the real deal in Montreal. Recommended.

Same here, although there used to be some in Manhattan. Not sure if they are around anymore. You can get the Tim Horton's K-cups from Costco here in the states to give you that taste of banging a hot quebecois SP from the night before!

Yes, though very limited. Many aren’t that good, but the Tim Hortons in Allentown PA (a little over an hour from me) is very good and it looks like a Montreal Tim Horton’s.

I was underwhelmed by some of the Tim Horton’s in NYC. But Allentown location - very good! Matter of fact, I thought it was better than the TH on Peel

1. Melyk Cafe Stanley: vanilla, or dark chocolate latte (homemade flavors, not syrup)! The staff are excellent. They care about making you happy and have a great attitude.
2. Cafe Castel, Sherbrooke and Peel: latte, one of the lady baristta"s can draw a bunny in your latte!
3. Cafe Myriad, latte, also a good low price.
4. Cafe Olimpico, Robert-Bourassa near McGill metro, Excellent latte and open late (I think 21:00)
5. Cafe Humble Lion, Sherbrooke near Mansfield. mixed feelings. I like their pumpkin latte, but this shop is extremely expensive and the workers don't seem to care or happy.

I went to Cafe Myriad today actually.

My only complaints with that place is that there's not enough seating, imo
