Jenna Jameson has announced that she will be reviving her porn career, citing her motivation as, "Taking care of my family." Ironically, that is the same exact reason she left the industry five years ago.
Coming out of retirement was never the plan for Jameson, as she said at the AVN Awards in 2008:
I'll never, ever, ever spread my legs again in this industry. Ever.
She also told Oprah:
I made a promise to my children when they were in my tummy that there is no way I could ever, ever, ever go back.
But things haven't been going so well with her. She had a tumultuous relationship with Tito Ortiz, the father of her twin sons, and eventually lost custody of her children to him. She told Opie and Anthony in a recent, rather depressing, interview that she hadn't seen her boys in four months. (Ortiz has claimed that Jameson is addicted to Oxycontin.) In 2012 she was busted for DUI. Over the summer she lost her home in the Hollywood Hills to foreclosure. And during the New York leg of her book tour last month—promoting her new erotic novel—she made several messy television appearances in which she did not appear lucid.

Is Jameson simply a victim of the seemingly inevitable doom in store for women after porn? Possibly. But it's not like her life before porn was any better.
She lost her mother to cancer when she was 2, and was raped by four men in her early teens. She had tremendous rage at her police officer father, who was an archetypal distant authority figure. (They have since reconciled.) In her 2004 memoir, How to Make Love Like a Porn Star: A Cautionary Tale, she talks about her battle with heroin addiction and her crippling body-image issues. "I have very bad insecurity about my body," she wrote in her diary, at age 15. "I feel there is something wrong with it. I hate being seen naked."
So while porn may not have destroyed her life, it didn't fix it either.
Recently Jameson has become a webcam model, stripping and performing sexual acts in exchange for tips. It was during her webcam show that she announced she'd be making new porn films.
