I actually might not be the right person to ask as I rarely perform in front of an audience. Often my sets are very intimate, and we may be the only ones in the room. As I'm sure you know, reality porn is almost never reality... but I do endeavor to keep is at real as possible. And therein lies part of the rub (lol)... the performers have to open up to the camera to give the best and sexiest view, but it is not always the most comfortable or most pleasurable. Interesting. I totally get what you mean about the natural chemistry thing & upon reflection i totally agree. Nothing beats strong chemistry whether performing in front of the camera or not. Myself i used to believe that the camera made me perform better. However i learned that when the chemistry isn’t there then camera or not the performance & the product will often be inferior. You are better off keeping the camera(s)... memory cards are cheap. If anything, you will have some extra BTS or blooper footage. If you shoot with two cameras, use different angles and punch in with one camera. A long clip can be broken up with a cutaway to a tighter shot from the other camera. Sure, two cameras is more work, but it may be the difference between a scene to which you want others to rub one out vs. a glorified sex tape to which only you might pleasure yourself when your partner has a headache, lol.
