Yeah. Ive heard stories about the very same agencies that some guys on this board and other boards rave about. From their workers and those who left the agency. Escorts choose to work for them for xyz reasons, not necessarily because they're so nice and such good people.
Going indy might be a better options for them in that case.

they're not necessarily good. i've heard of people being tricked into doing FS by MP owners, workers being pressured to do GFE, employers sexually harassing and assaulting employees, etc. i've heard all kinds of stories. people choose to work for agencies and MPs for a variety of reasons, for example not having a place to work, the impression that it's safer, having colleagues around, etc. but often employers don't treat everyone the same way. this is also why a lot of SP's change MPs and agencies often, some places are just not healthy work spaces
Can’t they report them to authorities in that scenario? Sexual harrassement, coercion, etc.

I don’t consider people making money off of the back of a prostitute as a good person. I consider them to be pimps
Last time I checked, MERB makes money from indy advertising, so by that definition they are pimps too. And yet you are still here.

Merb sells an advertising package, which is a service, they're hosting our ads... And they don't take a cut from our appointments. This is a bad comparison. I'd have to give more money to a pimp in a day than I give merb in a month...

Merb doesn't arrange our appointments nor do they demand a cut..

Okay so basically you want people to work in a sweatshop if I’m understanding your point correctly?
So if you can't beat them... join them?

But in all seriousness, while I don't have any evidence to back up my assertion, I don't know if we can group all middlemen in the same group. Just like there are bad employers, CEOs etc, I would assume the same goes for agencies. The question we should be asking is why do we need them in the first place if not for the terrible behavior of the people on the demand side of things.

In a perfect world, prostitution should be legalized and protected which would eliminate the need for middlemen just like how they did it with cannabis. But then again, even if that were to happen, we can always count on the government to fuck it up royally and further marginalize an already vulnerable group on the supply side.

I’m happy with the way things are currently set up personally. Middlemen(women) = job opportunities.

Why are you always so condescending and adversarial? Can’t you speak to people like a normal human being?

I can and do every day. I'd have been out of business years ago if I was a horrible person lol. The first sentence was a known idiom/phrase.

This is nonesense. In Cannabis, they became the worst middleman. The stock market doesn't show any success across the board, and the black market still thrives underneath anyway.

This subject is complicated. If sex workers had a safe, healthy place to work at, didn't have a huuuge cut taken from their pay, weren't coerced to offer services they don't want to offer or sleep with their bosses or see clients they don't want to see.. and if they weren't body shamed at the job or misled into thinking they're going to work at a place that doesn't involve certain things.. if there was a fair atmosphere that didn't encourage toxicity and competition.. things would be different. But also a business is a business, it's all for profit. However there's a difference between someone who doesn't care about their employees or claims or does and is super manipulative and does favoritism vs a person who understands what this work is like and protects their workers and offers an opportunity for a good salary and provides support and encourages boundaries

It's not possible for everyone to go indy unfortunately. A lot of people don't have that option for a number of reasons. A lot of ppl don't understand what being indy involves. It's a lot of work and there are multiple risks.

No, that's not how it works.. also I don't want to burst your bubble but we still live in a world in which rapists and sexual predators run free.. I've never met anyone who had someone convicted of a sex crime unless they were a child when it happened and there was solid proof (and having proof is rare in those instances )

In my opinion that's not the same. Merb and tryst and leolist are advertising platforms. I'm not working for merb, there's no one here telling me when and how to work and taking a cut from every client I see or forcing me to see clients who are disrespectful. I just send money to some anonymous person and that's it. I pay to have my art advertised on Instagram. I've paid to have websites and I've paid minimal fees to exhibit my art in certain galleries.. you can't compare these things

my point exactly. It's too much to ask to expect the government to do anything right. The black market became a thriving grey market although that's pretty moot with the current poste canada strike.

I see your point
Maybe you can testify on behalf of the defense of three former owners of Backpage.com who got convicted of multiple counts of promoting prostitution business enterprises last year

Yes, enabling prostitution is a criminal offence, as well as profiting from prostitution. The people behind MERB and advertising platforms could be charged in this case, yes.

The blind spot is that a paid service provided to the regular population can't be seen as profiting from prostitution if a sex worker uses that service (buying things in stores, paying bills, hiring someone to clean your house, hiring a photographer, etc.)

Okay so basically you want people to work in a sweatshop if I’m understanding your point correctly? You want a team that wakes up every morning (5days/week)
Provide prostitutes with an
- Incall condo location
- Multiple clean towels
- A booker that filter out the tricks (time wasters or serious inquiries)
- A driver for outcalls
- A maid to clean the appartements at the end of the work days (after midnight)

And these people should not dare ask for a salary? The prostitutes make 250$+/trick every workday but don’t have to contribute to shit that they benefit from the agency. Did I get this thing right Fradi?
Nope you hardly ever get anything right, but most of us are used to it by now.
You basiclly throw shit up against the wall and then want to argue over if it smells or not.

And yet here you are still stuffing your nose in my threads while you could have kept scrolling and go on about your day. Guess you’re addicted by the proverbial “shit” that I keep throwing on the wall genius. Go figure! Agree to disagree as always.

Thankfully Mia from Xo started her own female led agency so hopefully things like this won’t happen over there.
