Madrid-Barcelona conflict clearly at display. No communication between pique, Ramos

They won the last WC and the 2 last Euro with a mix of Barca/Real players.

Man77777 , last time there was warrior by the name of puyol
He and pique played in central defense, Ramos played as right back
Puyol is famous for being vocal during the whole match
Today there was no communication between defenders.
Casillas is not the same as he used to be. Clearly at fault for 1,3,4 goals

The Van Persie header against Spain was impressive, but I think even more impressive was the 5th goal of the game scored by Arjen Robben, who simply abused the Spanish defense. I don't understand how at this level anyone can operate so freely and with such impunity close to the goal. The Spanish defense was nowhere to be found on that goal, not that they played well on the others. Robben had his way today.

Netherlands obviously was fired up to kick some Spanish ass, and that they did.

Yeah and the 4-0 Germany win is great new too for the goalaverage. Now a draw against Portugal and a not too wide defeat against Germany and US will reach the 2nd round. 50-50%

I like this team, not very skilled, but great spirit...

Is anyone else bothered by all the non-Germans playing on Germany? I mean what a mercenary team. Ozil is Turkish. Podolski is Polish. Boateng is Ghanian and in fact his own brother plays for Ghana. Are these guys free agents? During World War II Hitler spouted off that Germany is a "white Aryan nation" and now they recruit black players from Africa to play on their national team???????????

My father did a genealogy which determined that he was 1/16th German -meaning I am 1/32nd German. Does that mean I would qualify to play for Germany too if I had soccer talent and was 21 years old?

No it's not surprising !! Muller is German and scored 4 goals !its not always the best player! It also depends we're the player play ! They can get the nationality just to be able to play for a country that participate in the World Cup ( euro passport it's worth more than a lot) or like deco who played for Portugual , to much talent at is position to play for the national Brazilian team !

Ozil and Boetang are both german. They are born in Germany. So I don't see your point, it's like saying that all the US player should play in european team cause their roots are there... Or like sayin that most of the balck players in NBA should play for african team...

Podolski is born in an another country from 2 polish parents. But he was 2 when he arrived in Germany so he probably feels German. And more importantly he was formed in Germany.

It's quite different for mercenaries like Diego Costa (Spain) who is 100% bresilian and was naturalized for sports reasons. That's why he is booed by the crowd. That also the case for some Portuguese players.

Podolski is/was eligible to play for Poland, but renounced Poland for financial reasons:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lukas_Podolski

I am pretty sure Ozil could play for Turkey and Boateng could play for Ghana (his brother does). But they also chose Germany for financial reasons.

This is no different than Reggie Jackson going into the Hall of Fame as a Yankee rather than an Oakland A, also for financial reasons. So I assume you are OK with Reggie in the HOF as a Yankees based on your posts. And in fact the HOF changed the rules because of what Reggie did, and now they decide what team you go in on. Also was Andre Dawson who was going into HOF as a Cub rather than an Expo until the HOF changed it.

However FIFA does not pull the plug on these guys playing for national teams based on financial considerations like the HOF pulled the plug on Andre Dawson in the HOF as a Cub. So they are mercenaries, nothing more nor less.
