I agree with 77777 here, the US was lucky to only lose by 1 goal. US goalie Tim Howard was the player of the tournament for his performance today against the FAR superior Belgians. He was playing from another planet and if not for him it would have been much worse than even 4-1. Overall, I think it's a great showing by Team USA and they will only get better in the future. Futbol is FINALLY coming around a bit in the States and I'm actually becoming a slight fan now.

I agree. Germany played their usual style. Nothing special. It was just terrible defending from Brazil. One would have expected more passion and energy from them playing in front of home crowd not to mention basic defensive skills. I don't think Germany is going to steamroll in the final. Any team could have beaten Brazil today. Even USA.

It was just a matter f time before Brasil got ejected. I was surprised they made it that far, but if you look at it from a business point of view, they had to be there in order to attract the Brasil fans, which were the majority of spectators.

1-7 Loss
This is inexcusable and a total humiliation. The Germans made them look school children. Was I watching soccer or basketball? Its touching however to see how the Germans actually felt sorry for them and toned things down in the 2nd half. The score could have easily been 0-12. The cocky Brazilians though they had it in the bag with Germany, as their record with Germany over 21 previous games was only 4 defeats.

This team was not skilled to win a WC. But let's say that they lost 2 of the 5best players in the world for this match. Thiago Sylva was the boss of the defense and Neymar was the star of the attack. Without these 2 players they become a very common team and get totally disrupted.

The problem is that Scolari didn't change his plans knowing they lost his 2gems. He still ask his players to attack attack attack. It was a huge mistake. Without Sylva and Neymar, he should have built a fortress team...

OMG,

I saw the highlights of the game between Brazil and Germany. The Brazilians were already crying their eyes out when it was 2 or 3 to 0. I can't imagine how they feel about the depth of the disaster. They showed one sobbing beauty about three times on ESPN. Counseling and and other therapy will be in epic demand.

The Germans are the class (regarding skill) of the World Cup. I don't see how they can be beaten in regulation. Of course being about 1/8 German from the Hessen region along the Rhine I'm hoping for a German victory, as well as going with the odds. Deutschland Uber Alles.

Glück Deutschland (good luck Germany)

Germany does look like the best team and I thought so ahead of the World Cup. Argentina has Messi and he will need to lift the team to victory although I am sure the Germans will mark him very carefully as the Dutch did today.

Barring exceptional free-kicks or beautiful crosses from Messi, Germany will have their 4th title this weekend.

Germany had hard time against the modest Algeria, was dominated by France and the match against Brazil didn't mean anything.

I'd prefer Germany to win too, but you're all very optimitic. The real advantage I see for Germany is the fact they have one more day to revover and had no extratime in semi. 55/45 Germany IMO.

I will say one thing, Argentina looked great in the penalty kicks today. Their goalie made two great saves and they scored on every kick if I am not mistaken, and every one was a rocket when it hit the back of the net.

Argentina lack the wholesome attack to threaten the germans. Sure, Argentina have done well defensively in the knockout matches but not a single game have they dominated or convincingly won. A similar German team thrashed a similar Argentina in the QF last word cup 4-0. Argentina will defend well in the final but I don't see them scoring a single goal unless Messi comes up with something magical. And with all their attack, Germany will manage to score at least one goal. It looks lie 1-0 Germany for me. But if Messi scores early, Argentina may pull it off 1-0. That's their only hope. They are not going to get 2 goals. Not possible. Score the first goal and defend to death is their only option.

Yeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa,

What a gorgeous athletic and artistic goal for Germany controlling the ball then kicking behind of the momentum of the Argentinian goalie to catch the corner of the net by Gotze. Awesome tight game.

GERMANY CHAMPIONS of the WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Congrats to Germany, the World Champions.
They really deserve it; they were solid throughout the whole World Cup.
