The main problem lies with the Toronto Sports Network. It was the same when the Expos were here. They never got any coverage. It was always the Blue Jays. Same thing with the Leafs. Not to mention that the CBC is no better, always putting the Leafs on the national broadcast and very rarely showing a Habs game even in Quebec. Good old TO, the center of the universe.

Great thread! The Leafs and their sad franchise is a joke, but the biggest joke is their idiot fans who keep coming back for a reaming year after year !! :D

GO HABS GO !!

No argument...but the same could be said of Habs fans. Remember: except for the two miracle/fluke Patrick Roy Cups in 86 and 93, the last time a Habs TEAM won Stanley was in 79. (The two Roy Cups were not only miracles and flukes but also pretty much one-man shows.)

Look on the bright side Techman: whenever the Laughs are in a game, it gives you a rooting interest...for the OPPONENT whoever it may be. It's just so much fun to see the Laughs lose time after time and then watch the talking heads hang their heads in despair and try to analyze why their heroes are again mired in the muck.

I don't agree here Joelcairo,

The team in 1986:

Larry Robinson and Gainey were valuable veterans even if passed their prime,Robinson even made it to the all-star that year.Carbo, best defensive froward 3 starithg years.Lemieux was runner up for playoffs MVP,one of the best power forward in the NHL not to mention a ''money player'' type.
Chelios, one of the best all time defensmen,Green,Ludwig and Svoboda weren't slouch either.
Mats Naslund had is best season ever with 100+ points, one of the best Left winger in the NHL right behind Goulet.Bobby Smith,Ryan Walter and Mike McPhee were good players too.

1993:

Carbo and Roy both in their prime. So were Muller,Damphousse and Bellows.Dennis Savard was on the decline but still better than a lot of players(he scored a couple of important OT goals that year)Stephan Lebeau had 85+points,Leclair(also a couple of timely OT goals),was budding,Desjardins was already amongst the best defensemen,Shcneider not far behind.
Jacques Demers was one of the best coach.
They had a 100+ season that year,I think they finished 4th or 5th.
Besides, all this credit given to Roy,I don't argue, but a goalie is part of the team as far as I know.

A lot of those guys on both editions are already HoFamers, some will end up there eventually.
Back in those days(1980's-early 1990's) the Habs were always amongst the best, always competitive, many 100 points seasons,5 semi-finals,3 finals and 2 Cups.
Not too shaby.Only the Oilers and Islanders had a better season and playoff record back then.Better yet,the Habs were second only to the Oilers for playoffs games played during the Corey/Savard reign.
But for many it wasn't enough,I kinda miss those days.....
The grass is always greener in the neighbor's backard.

That was one major meltdown tonight! Blowing that 4-1 third period lead and the much needed two points they had in the bag. Those giveaways just killed them. You can't cough the puck that often to a team like Buffalo and get away with it. And Andrew Raycroft????? Come on! Where's Belfour, Cujo, Potvin, or Palmateer when you need them? (No one under 40 will know of
Mike Palmateer, but he was one hell of a goalie). That was just plain pathetic, and they don't deserve to be in the playoffs after this loss.

Put a sieve in nets and you'll lose a lot of games. Raycroft is the perfect goalie for the Laughs. The only ones who don't belong on the Laughs are Sundin and Paul Maurice who both deserve to be with a decent team.

Well if you think about Montreal Fans refused to back a loser. Hence they are

GONE!

I do admit some Montreal hockey fans are starting to resemble the Laughs.

I had season tickets when the Molson Center opened.

Cost of $10,000.00 ($4,000 for right to buy tickets section 205 plus $6000.00 for the tickets)

I went to the opening game and watched the guy in from of me pay $17.00 for a slice of pizza, coke, and a bag of chips.

The pure stupidity to get suckered reminded of the Leaf fans I observed when I lived in Ontario

I then promply rid myself of them and have never returned.

There are enough addicts here in Montreal and the who are just that addicts to sustain an NHL franchise.

They will however be hard pressed to be anywhere close to breaking the Laughs fans record of Best Supporting Role of a Loser in a CBC Series.

A smart person from Toronto would channel his cash towards an evening with a Montreal girl rather than watching Darcy Tucker

sucker fans into paying him.

Losers Even After Forty Seasons

It was forty years ago ... 1967 ... the last time the Leafs won the Stanley Cup.

It all makes sense ... we all know what the "Leafs" in the name "Toronto Maple Leafs" stands for?

Losers
Even
After
Forty
Seasons

What would you have to count anyway?

So what!The Yankees have 26.

Well, i care. The Jays have only been in the majors since 1977. For those many Habs fans out there who can't count, that's 30 years. The Yankees, on the other hand, have been in baseball since the early 20th century. If the Jays would be as old as the Evil Empire, they'd have at least 30 pennants by now.

Bottom line: You can't compare the two.

But you can't compare baseball to hockey either.

Look who's so sensitive now!;)

Simple maths:

The Yankees have won 26 titles in about a century.Average:1 every 4 years.
Jays, 2 in 30 years.Average:1 every 15 years.
According to this table of maths, had the jays been a century old, like the evil empire, they would have about 6 or 7 titles, not 30!
Not sure it's the Habs fans who can't count....Lol!!!

Besides,I don't like they Yanks either,but I won't call anyone a bitch.

Always happens with Make-Me-Laff fans, they're so embarassed about their team's lack of Stanley Cups in the last 40 years (especially compared to the Habs record) that they want to talk about baseball instead !! :D
