Cell Phone Harassment/Violation of Do Not Call Registry

I have been getting bombarded by calls from Credit One Bank despite being in the USA National Do Not Call Registry and despite having done no business whatsoever with this company. I filed a complaint with the Registry as they keep calling me from numbers all over the USA. Once I block one number they use another. I don't know whether the Registry can act upon my complaint or has any enforcement teeth. The Registry Complaint page says there may be smartphone apps that block unwanted calls. Do you know of any? That will block a company which after I block one number they call from another and another and another and I keep blocking and they keep calling from new numbers all over the USA, like a giant cancer of phone harassment. Enough with this harassment!

EB, they may be calling you from Canada.
There is a call centre here in Winnipeg that has done several campaigns for the NRA. My friend's kid worked there, they also did Netflix support and some US credit card campaigns.
They spoof their number so it looks like a US number. Technically they are not violating the do not call list because they are not calling you from the US.
Same goes for companies in Canada outsourcing their campaigns to US call centres. They take the no call list and call from the US. I often get calls that sound like they are from the southern states. Prisons maybe?

It's strange because I keep blocking the calls as they come in. In recent days the calls have come from the following places among others- I am pretty sure it's all Credit One Bank:

I used to get annoyed by these type of phone calls too.
Now that I am retired and have time I usually talk to them in an Indian accent, ( I am getting very good at imitating it) string them along, ask them all kinds of stupid questions about their product, have them repeat it a couple of times as if I am hard of hearing, complain that their accent is difficult to understand and if they still remain, finally give them a ridiculous credit card number.
Sad to say they have stopped calling, what a bummer.

I often tell them i'm a cop and they'll hang up right away. Or i'll tell them i'm currently busy and will call them back if they leave a number. They will always say they can't do that, so i go "now you know how i feel about strangers calling you to harass you, eh?"

The Canadian Do Not Call Registry will not accept my registration. I get a message, "invalid number." Maybe because it's an American area code. It's definitely a valid number.

I've always hung up on these robo calls until the last few months. I wait until someone comes on the line and then I ask them what number they were calling. I make sure they have the identification right and then I tell them to write this down. "I am not interested in anything you have. Make a note and never call me again." Then I ask them if they got that and when they say yes I tell them to have a nice day. It seems to work.

There is nothing you can really do about it. Call centers could be calling from anywhere in the world and they operate in other countries to avoid the legal issues with making unsolicited calls. Do not be fooled by the number on your call display... Call centers use Voip service and change the number displayed this is called phone spoofing... They can display whatever number they want. One question I am curious about is did they ask for you by name? If yes a list could have been sold. If no then they are randomly dialing numbers in the hopes to catch someone. Personally I believe that Do No Call Registry is futile.

I did get a robo-call message from Credit One Bank, saying it was "important that I call back", but I don't recall them using my name and it was a Robo-message, not a living person on the other end. We are a society being taken over by robots. Most of the other calls did not result in messages but I googled the numbers and I saw complaints about those numbers by actual Credit One Bank customers. I am not a customer of this bank. I do my banking elsewhere. I would like them to stop the harassment of me by robots.

I just got another call from a 843 area code which is Charlestown, South Carolina. There was a live body on the other end, a guy speaking English with what sounded like a Indian accent. He asked for "Jennifer." I told him there was no Jennifer at this number and told him I was the only person using the number and asked him, "do I sound like a Jennifer?" He then asked how long I had been using this number and I told him "over 10 years and it is registered on the Do Not Call Registry for the last 10 years so I strongly recommend you stop calling and harassing me. Your customer Jennifer gave your company a bogus number she is not using."

The guy then apologized, claimed to make a note of it and the conversation ended. We'll see if it stops now.

These days doing business is moving toward eliminating all human contact as much as possible. Everything has gone robotic, even with doctors. I've gotten calls from medical systems telling me I have appointments I never made or even considered or needed. I called my doctor's office to ask about this and I was told their system computer software automatically decides when I should be seeing someone regardless of the situation. There no consideration about whether I'm available to keep the appointment either. The machine just does it, and if I miss an appointment I didn't ask for it still calls to tell me to make another. It's ridiculous.

All they care about is generating profits.
