Or better yet, just WATCH THE MOVIE lol.
I cant find it online anywhere for free so I am not sure exactly where you guys are watching it or seeing it available. According to JustWatch, it's streaming on AppleTV for $9.99, same on Amazon Video but leaving in 7 days, same on Prime, and same on Fandango. All are offering it for an extra $9.99 rental fee.
I generally do not spend extra money to rent movies online, I just watch whatever is offered on the service I am already paying monthly for, rather than be double-whammied. I am assuming you guys are paying double- for the monthly service and then for the rental fee or "on demand" charge on top of the monthly service charge. For a 52% RT rating film, that is really a tough sell with me. I might lose 90 minutes of my life. I do not like spending money for movies when I felt that way after finishing the film. Because you do not get that 90 minutes back, ever.

Last week i watched the original Millenium Trilogy Män som hatar kvinnor, so the 1st version with Noomi Rapace.
Not exactly a new movie but if you've only watched the Fincher adaptation of the same book with Daniel Craig, you should give this one a try.
Most of the commentaries on IMDB tend to say the 2 versions are eaqually good and i disagree, the Swedish one is very superior in my opinion in the sense that you really feel the movie while watching it if that makes sense, you really feel the cold in the first part and i was really engaged in the investigation of this strange cold case (in every sense of the word).
Fincher's was good, because well Fincher :) buta bit more watered down, especially if you compare it to Se7en or even Zodiac.
The other 2 movies of the trilogy are interesting (Michael Nyqvist and Noomi Rapace help a lot) but not nearly as good as the first one, my understanding it that it was the same for the books.
So if you can find it, give it a try

I watched Heart Eyes a couple days ago. I had high hope for that one. Sadly its not that great. There is a good ammount of violence and blood, but the script and structure of the movie is pretty weak. It tries to be too many different things and can't succeed fully at any. Still watchable once, but thats about it.

I'm not sure if @EagerBeaver is trolling/joking, or is actually being serious lol.

Plenty of sources with no spoilers. Or better yet, just WATCH THE MOVIE lol.

I'm a big fan of Soderbergh as well, but heard mixed reviews for Presence. Critics seem to like it (88% on RT), but audiences do not (52% on RT).

I'll probably check it out eventually. And yes, I do appreciate @Doc Holliday's reviews as well.
I believe that the 52% rating by the fans is somewhat misleading since i don’t believe they fully understood it or appreciate good filmaking of they didn’t rate it higher. Personally i always follow a movie on wikipedia while i’m watching it in order not to miss anything. If i hadn’t done this while watching PRESENCE i would have missed a lot of hints & likely wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much as i did.

By the way i’m aware that my review of this movie wasn’t appreciated by everyone however i find it difficult or even time consuming to write extensive reviews of movies that have already been reviewed dozens of times & if someone is really interested in reading an indepth review it’s incredibly easy just to look it up on the web. I fimd that the pirpose of this thread os to state which movie you recently watched, write a very brief review of what it’s about, your personal impressions & whether or not you’d recommend it to others withoit divulging too much of the plotline & risk spoiling for others who hadn’t seen a particular movie yet.

That's completely fair, but your own review history set a standard that wasn't quite lived up to. I think if the same review had been posted by a relatively new poster, I would have been annoyed but let it pass. In your case however, more was expected based on your review history and portfolio. On the other hand, it's also true that Stephen King has written a couple of crappy books, so I give you a pass as I do he, especially since Johnny has posted the review I was looking for, which wasn't all that long or detailed but checked off the necessary boxes. I think Johnny's review of Presence is what the prototypical movie review in this thread should be.

On a separate note, I am very appreciative of the stellar contributions to this thread by Doc, Johnny and Charmer in particular, all of whom have helped me make good choices on my entertainment selections. That being said, I am not afraid to call any of you out on a review that I feel falls short of your standards. It's the only time I have even done it, and maybe was based on my expectation reading the review at the time, and/or my mood. Like Jack Kerouac, I am a stream of consciousness poster.

Totally agree. i think some people expected some kind of paranormal activity wanabee and that's clearly not what it is, that's why i was curious about it, and of course Soderbergh.
It's not his best movie but it deserves much more than the current rating on IMDB for sure.
My guess is that rating will be higher in a few weeks/months

I’ll take this as constructive criticism & a compliment. By the way i wasn’t offended at all & actually found your criticism rather funny. You weren’t wrong into pointing out that it was a rather lame review on my part. I was lazy & on the bright side it got people talking about the movie & some may chose to watch it & judge it for themselves. What i’d do if i were to watch it for the first time would be to read good reliable reviews about it after having seen it. As i mentioned i did this during intervals while watching the movie & also once i had finished watching it. I realized i had missed many small but important things while watching it. Doing this made me appreciate it more & it wouldn’t surprise me if i end up liking it even more when i’ll re- watch it.

Major Hollywood Box Office Slump Continues!
I think movie studios are going to be dialing back budgets in a big way because these expensive sequels are now very very risky in this market in which consumers can spend less waiting and getting content online.

I enjoyed Black Bag.

Laughed out loud a few times ...

Very slick espionage thriller, well acted & scripted, but with a little too much exposition at just 90 mins ...

Felt slightly derivative of John Le Carré adaptations [ie. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy], especially with an exceptionally impassive Michael Fassbender (his character's name is George!) channeling obvious, if otherwise unsexy Smiley antecedents Alec Guiness & Gary Oldman.

I mean, never has a pair of glasses done so much work ....

I was listening to Collin Cowherd’s podcast the other day & he mentioned he had just seen it at the movies with his wife & they really liked it. So i plan to see it soon.

I just checked. It’s still not available on Disney+.
It was literally just released on Hulu March 17, so it may be delayed by a few weeks in Canada. I am guessing it will be released very soon on Disney+ because everything I read suggested it will be available on D+. The Canada release may be happening next week or the week after, not sure.

Anora is one of the best movies of the century. It's in my top 10 and also Poor Things which I have seen many times. All these movies about sex workers are winning tons of Oscars and are so entertaining and fun to watch. Both these Actresses won the Oscar for Best Actress for playing Sex Workers and they do it so well. I will watch Poor Things and Anora again this weekend because its just so well made. Also Pretty Woman is still great to watch from time to time.

The Anora writer/director's other movies are literally all about sex workers of one kind or another. But definitely NOT of the glamorous "Pretty Woman" variety or even Anora's own wealthy expat Russian milieu.

There's a long tradition of Hollywood actresses playing Oscar-nominated & winning roles as sex workers. I mean a lot ... including the first ever Best Actress winner Janet Gaynor.

Just off the top of my head, a few other very notable performances that didn't win would include Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver & Elizabeth Shue in Leaving Las Vegas.

Thinking about Black Bag again has me pondering the similarities between the worlds of fictional espionage and real-world sex work (for both practioners & customers). The fake identities, necessary lies, transactional sex, 'honey traps,' etc. So much, really, that Black Bag itself could almost be viewed allegorically, though I'm sure that was never intended.
