Lots of good films above ...

Andrea Arnold, who made Bird, has done some really great stuff, especially Fish Tank, also set in a similar UK working class milieu ...

Death of a Unicorn (2025)
Horror/comedy starring Paul Rudd & Jenna Ortega. This wonderful might be my favorite horror/comedy since i watched the very entertaining The Monkey. The story involves a father & daughter who are driving to an estate owned by the lawyer’s millionaire boss when suddenly they hit a unicorn that was on the road. Shortly after the teenage daughter touches the dying unicorn’s horn & discovers it has magical powers. Then they show up at the estate & initially try to cover up the accident yet the millionaire & his family eventually find out about it & all hell breaks loose & we get to see a comedy of errors & bad behavior on their part! I really loved this movie! I may have enjoyed even more than The Monkey! I give it 4/5 stars! Loved it!

Rust (2025)
Western movie starring Alec Baldwin, Patrick Scott Mcdermott, Josh Hopkins & Frances Fischer. It was directed by Joel Souza & co-written by Souza & Alec Baldwin. This is the infamois movie where the cinematographer was accidently shot & killed on the set back in 2021. I’m both surprised & glad that it was finally completed in her honor & to be honest i really enjoyed it! My favorite parts were the performances by the main actors & especially the beautiful cinematography. The movie was a bit long (160 minutes) and slow-paced but i really enjoyed the story & the various characters, especially the Baldwin character. The film reminded me of old John Ford movies starring John Wayne.

It’s about a 13-yr old rancher who looks after his younger brother in 1880’s Wyoming after their parents both passed away. One day he accidently kills a man while chasing after a wolf near their property. He’s found guilty of murder & ordered to be hanged. While in his prison cell one night awaiting his execution the following day an old man sudenly shows up & breaks him out of prison. It turns out that the old man is also a long-wanted outlaw who turms out to be the young man’s grandfather. The rest of the movie mostly involves the two sibblings being pursued by the law & a posse of bounty hunters. The star of the movie in my opinion is newcomer Mcdermott who wasn’t even the original choice for the role. This is one of my favorite Alec Baldwin’s performances. My lone regret is not seing the movie in a movie theatre. I watched it instead on my 80” LG TV in Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos home theatre sound. I also absolutely loved the movie’s score. I chose to ignore some of the negative reviews it received & went in with an open mind. The movie so far has received half negative & half positive reviews. The movie also reminded me of a modern-day Clint Eastwood western. I give it 7 out of 10 stars & would definitely watch it again.

I was wondering what happened to Vince Vaughn. His career seemed to have peaked with Wedding Crashers in 2005. Anyone remember this comedy classic? Vince Vaughn was so good in that movie. I will have to check out Nonnas.
