Random thought but how does everyone deal with fake people in their personal lives?

I feel lately I've been encountering a lot of fake ppl in my personal life. I've been trying out different activities & events to meet new people and I just find it's hard to find "real" people, down to earth humans.
I think the further away you move from big cities, the more "real" people you will encounter. Food for thought...

I think the pandemic has really changed how people interact with others. People are more wary of connecting with strangers. I've definitely noticed a big difference.. I think it also depends what type of events and what ''scene'' you're in. I quit the nightlife scene specifically because it was full of fake people who seemed cool on the outside but were actually judgemental social climbers. I have met really genuine people in the last few years and slowly rebuilt a social circle.

Good luck with that, creative spaces are becoming the '"Tasmanian Tiger" of this city.
Some people have shared spaces but it may not be super comfortable...

I read an article recently with some startling data from the US regarding adults aged 23-29. When we compare the periods before and after pandemic restrictions, the most socially active young adults (top 25%) have pretty much returned to their usual habits, as measured by time spent with other people on an average day. The picture is different for the least socially active (bottom 10%). For them, their level of time spent with other people has crashed to near zero levels and has not recovered since the pandemic lockdowns. One in ten spends zero minute interacting with someone else on an average day (it was 1 in 25 before the lockdowns!). This is data from the American Time Use Survey, a highly reliable source.

I'm thinking about people I know who are very very extroverted and spend 2 or 3 days a week going to various parties and have a ton of friends and acquaintances everywhere in the city and in different cities as well. People like this still have maintained the same habits, but this is very extreme and most people do not belong to that category, myself included. Some people I know made efforts to remain sociable during the pandemic but now they mostly are around their partner and definitely don't go out or reach out as much. That's not mentioning people who's mental health has took an extreme plunge in the past few years. I've noticed people who's situations have deteriorated in major ways, and it's really really sad. There is a collapse of social structures, less and less help for people who are impoverished or ill, etc. Almost everyone I'm close to have had a friend die in the recent years, either by suicide or overdose.
