Governments (including Canada’s CRA) do tax income from illegal activities in many cases. That creates a real irony: the state is collecting a share of the proceeds of crime while officially condemning the crime itself. It’s one of those situations that highlights how pragmatic (and sometimes hypocritical) tax systems can be.

They don’t have time to go through those text messages is what I said. Do you know how many people have contacted Euphoria since it was created? Like I said, unless they have serious reasons to believe they were hiring minors, they are not going to go through those text messages. Not enough effective for that, not their priority
They can if they want to. It is all about selective enforcement. If they want to bust all johns that contacted the agency they will. The power of LE is they never quit. Crimes commited 30 years ago are being prosecuted now. I always tell everyone to not take it for granted at anytime if they want to they can and got resources to shut it all down.

Are people honestly worried LE is about to come knocking because an agency they called a few times got shot down?!?

XO apparently got axed because it employed minors, knowingly or not. Minors! I mean… that’s some pretty serious shit! Yet here on MERB, the forum where a significant portion of XO’s clientele gathers, not a single john’s name has surfaced as collateral damage from that operation. Not one.

Euphoria’s case isn’t even half as bad. After the report went live, LE basically had to make a move on Euphoria, if only to save face and preserve the public trust! Certainly not because every agency is now seen by LE as being "worst than the street"! No one who knows anything about this industry would believe that for a second!

Sure, if a client abused providers and some of them decide it’s time to press charges, then I guess it’s time to clear your schedule, ‘cause it’s reckoning time, doc!

But for all the respectful gentlemen who play by the rules, I wouldn’t waste a minute of sleep over this. Everyone involved here has better things to do with their time than start a pointless crusade.

Just my two cents. Cheers!

They will not. Too much resources and too much time and they can't prove shit if the lady does not collaborate which 90% of them will not expose themself. Especially with Euphoria case, nobody except the eye doctor will get shit, not even James, since he disappear with his client list. The XO client list is another thing, but again Xo got caught because they got sloppy , did not check girls ages and keep clients that treat girls like sex slaves like the eye doctor did. Does incall model is dead.....Maybe, dunno but i do think that Forever will maybe need a name change and that the downtown location that everybody have will change after july 1st, because two of the biggest agency gone in 6 months..eyes are on them

Exactly. There are far more important issues to deal with at the moment in this crazed world.

Agreed...its a mix right of things..a network down on ratings deciding to hit on the old profession and may the Govt interested in getting some of that lost doe with pressure....because the budget always needs money while setting an example on the justice front and of course the tax front

One of the characteristics of perpetual problems is that when you believe you've resolved it, it starts again.

If there is money to be made (and there is!) there will always be a provider. And the higher the risk, the higher the pay.

No public facing news is good news when it comes to this industry but there was nothing particularly shocking in that article other than James full name was disclosed. I mean the money has always worked that way and he seemed rather professional in this meeting. I would be shocked if Euphoria is ever heard from again but I just do not seeing this as a game changer.

The bigger problem is they exposed the location. As some peoples pointed out, James is likely very rich after all this time in the business and while having his full name out is not good (wonder how they found that one to be honest, cause apprently most of their infos came from the XO bust) he can probably bounce back in some form or the other. But having the location exposed is a huge problem as he can't use these anymore. Likely he will still have to pay rent and finding a new place could be a headache. Maybe not too. I can't know for sure. But lets say he COULD/WOULD like to stay in the business. Its not gonna happen in a week or 2. And by then the SPs (as we already saw for the majority of them) have already moved. They need to pay rent too...

While i already said i am really not happy on what happened, both because i liked the agency and i apreciate James as a person, i am curious tough to know what will happen for the next few months. Euphoria was basically built on the "ashes" of Goodgirls. Goodgirls kept existing a bit after Euphoria started but it didn't last long and Euphoria replaced it pretty much. Then while i was corrected by another member that Forever started existing before Xo was shut down, it basically took its place on the board. There was 2 "super agencies" and now there is only one. Will Forever solely dominate as THE big agency, or will another one appear? Or maybe we will see more smaller agencies? It get me wrondering...

Luxury has grown a lot as well in the last few months, but its mainly an outcall agency.

I don't think they'll make a concerted effort to go after Johns or truly end agencies...but I do think they could nab 1 or 2 while theyre entering or leaving an appointment...maybe put his name in the paper.

That will be enough to scare everyone and deter most of us and really put a dent on incalls

Two incall agencies went bye bye within one year. If I recall some while ago there was an incident where someone or a group of people set fire to the building where Euphoria operated. Then this outing of this doctor who was a recruiter for XO. This is very inside knowledge and information. I don't know but this sounds like there is some sort of war and beef going on between agencies trying to take out the competition? If this is true that really sucks.

Update. Thank you mod for the correction. I have corrected the doctor’s affiliation.

Didn't Euphoria also absorbed/merged with Mike's Mansion which was pretty successful too?

The door panel of the building Euphoria was using for their incall was often broken. Someone mentioned it was XO. I last used Euphoria last July and it was broken again. So it can't be XO again.

The government does not really care if no trafficking or underaged girls get involved. Yes, it's hypocritical. Sexual outlets like this is necessary for society. That's why they call it the "world's oldest profession". Marriage is legalized prostitution. How many dumb ladies would marry a man even though he was poor?

Thanks for posting that link.

I don't think anything is clear yet, but there's no doubt that agencies that offer incalls in upscale buildings are going to have to reconsider their business models.

As I noted before, it's possible that agencies will survive by returning to the old days of lower profiles, smaller lineups, outcalls only and owner/managers who are native Quebecois and more considerate of their staff. It all depends on whether the police really want to kill off the agencies completely or just force them to operate with much lower profiles and better practices.

Clementine and her buddy Romain Schue are certainly enjoying their 15 minutes of totally undeserved fame.

Clementine was dressed like she was headed to a sexual encounter with her new client or sugar daddy--makeup, short, tight black dress, black stockings, black boots. Not sure, but she looked like she was wearing hair extensions too. She may not be a whore anymore but she sure was wearing a whore's uniform. :D

As for Romain Schue (AKA Jimmy Olsen) , the crack "investigative reporter" (from France!), he can barely believe his good fortune. This story had to be the easiest story to report of his (not very impressive) career. All he had to do was sit at his computer and Google "montreal escort agencies". Sacre Bleu! "I am shocked, shocked to learn that prostitution is going on in Montreal! I must come to the rescue of the poor young (let's just assume they are all underage) maidens who are being abused, exploited, trafficked and forced to work as virtual sex slaves for creepy old men." (At least he was able to find one creepy old man-"merci, docteur!").

Nobody really knows what will happen-it's up to the police, the public, the media and truthfully, all the participants in the business-the girls, the agency owners, the clients, etc. But as a long-term observer of the Montreal scene, I am certain that the business will survive though it will change, maybe for the worse, maybe even for the better. On verra.
i was thinking the same thing...most minimally aware and or educated people, men and women, know there is a big sex trade in Montreal, and know there is a big sex trade in most of the world and developped world (no shit Sherlock!)
So this story would not be news at all if it did not have the slant of extortion and abuse, that is why that slant is pushed really hard, so to make the story relelant.

thats a little extreme. to build a case that is provable without reasonable doubt is the great botteneck. Diffficult for 1 crime, let alone thousands of circumstantial crimes.

You are right...but when they aint getting taxes ...now that is their business. I am sure Escort agencies play a lot of the business under the table...hence tax evasion
