Tonya Harding reaches out to Nancy Kerrigan
Tonya Harding has extended her condolences to former skating rival Nancy Kerrigan after her elderly father's sudden death on Sunday.
The feud between the skaters became notorious in 1994 when Harding's ex-husband allegedly hired a hitman to injure Kerrigan's knee before a U.S. championship.
Harding has always maintained she was disgusted by the attack -- and now she's reaching out to her former competitor to express her sympathy after Daniel Kerrigan's tragic death.
"Tonya feels very sad for Nancy and her family and extends her deepest sympathy and condolences to them," said a statement from Harding's representative. "Tonya's beloved dad, Al Harding, passed away this April, so she understands the grief Nancy and her family are feeling at this time."
Kerrigan's brother Mark was arrested amid allegations he assaulted his dad moments before he passed away at the family's Massachusetts home.
Mark Kerrigan, 45, has since pleaded not guilty to assaulting the 70 year old.
