I would like to point out that i totally agree with all of you in regards to the Big Bad Bruins, which were my favorite hockey team growing up. The Bruins have a formidable team, led by a formidable goaltender in the great Tim Thomas, one of my favorite goaltenders EVAH!

What to say of Bobby Orr, Phil Esposito, Wayne Cashman, Gerry Cheevers, Don Marcotte, Ken Hodge & company......my idols growing up!

I could have sworn you were a Middleton fan too ;)

Hey Merlot, you were warned not to make up quotes of others. In thread #177 you ignored that warning. Guess you'll pay the price buddy.
Merlot didn't make up anything. His quote was totally accurate. It's called selective editing. He must have been watching Fox Noise at the time.

Hey DD,

How are you buddy. No one is allowed to change words. Everyone including you makes partial quotes or selectively edits.

You did exactly the same thing when quoting me by leaving out words selectively. The only difference is I didn't leave a loaded phrase.

OMG...you deleted half of my post. Why aren't you complaining when you do it to me.

:noidea:

Merlot

Hey Merlot,

I deleted one portion of two distinct portions of your post. I never edit your post. Whatever, you say, I leave it.

You, on the other hand, change people's words. And in the last instance, you made up a quote that I never posted and attributed to me. That's slander. I have already told Mod #8.

I think you have serious psychological issues. And a note - you don't have permission to quote me anymore, because you will change anything I say.

Really Rumps?

I really said I don`t have any balls? Can you search all of Merb and tell me where I said this as Merlow posted in thread #177? And you telling me it`s accurate. Go to hell Rumps. I believe everything they say about you on the other board.

I switched allegiance at around the time Middleton played with the Bruins. I got tired of having my heart broken year after year by the Habs in the quarter or semi finals. That series against the Habs when Don Cherry was coaching & they got that 'too many men' penalty with just a couple of minutes remaining to play in regulation (with the Bruins leading by a goal at the time), only to have the game tied & later won in overtime on an Yvon Lambert goal.....was the final straw for me.

Sure, the Leafs were still competitive at the time (with Roger Neilson as coach) and very exciting to watch....only to become the league's joke once Neilson was fired & Punch Imlach was brought back. However, even the Leafs had become a Mickey Mouse outfit under the ownership of Harold H. Ballard, their bad play & lack of success was expected. When they won a game, it was a bonus! However, it didn't hurt as much as the Bruins constantly losing against the Habs year after year.

For the record, i started to become a Maple Leafs fan the night Lanny McDonald's overtime goal eliminated the Cup-favored N.Y. Islanders. They wound up losing against Montreal, but what a great playoff run it was! At the time, the Leafs were contenders & possibly only a couple of key players away from challenging for the Cup. Great young coach, young goalie (Mike Palmateer), HOF defenceman (Borje Salming), HOF forwards (Sittler & McDonald), grinder/heart-and-soul type (Dave "Tiger" Williams), etc. It was hard not to root for them at the time, especially when they played the hated Philadelphia Flyers (Broad Street Bullies) in the playoffs.

That's exactly what you said. The only thing is that Merlot left out one word in a bit of creative editing; he added nothing. That's standard operating procedure at Fox Noise so you should be aware of that method of reporting.

Go to hell Rumps. I believe everything they say about you on the other board.
Of course you do; I'd expect no less. You also believe that Michele Bachmann and Hermain Cain aren't clowns. Need I say more?

Rumps, you and Merlot obvious are compatible pair. You and he have kissed and made up from last weeks spat, but you are both trouble.

Making up quotes and attributing them to others is not a ha-ha funny little prank. It's what a 5-year-old would do and think it's funny. So, why don't you and your best buddy Merlot take a trip to the nearest sandbox and play together, and laugh your fool heads off. No one else is laughing around here, because we all behave like adults.

So it's OK for Fox Noise and your tea bagging friends to selectively edit, but not for Merlot? The only difference is that when Fox Noise distorts the truth, there are real world consequences.

...because we all behave like adults.
ROFLMAO. Who is acting the petulant 7 year old right now? "Go to hell Rumps. I believe everything they say about you on the other board." Hahahaha. What am I supposed to say to that? Sticks and stones...?

Why am I annoyed? Because Merlot was told not to change other poster's posts or make them up, etc. No one else does this. Comparing your imaginary delusions of Fox News to what Merlot does is silly. I am not going to be pulled into a political debate in the Hockey thread.

It is sweet that you are coming to your buddy's rescue. I'll give you that, but his actions can not be defended.

And what do you think I would say after you said what Merlot's made up quote of me saying about myself --- that I have no balls --- is true. Should I have said, Oh in that case Rumps if you say it's true, it must be true. I am sick of both of you.

You and Merlot need some time off this board.
I couldn't agree more. I'm going for a bike ride, then a shower, then I'm going to call Martin for some afternoon hijinks. Get well soon.:D

I think this thread is wandering more than a little off topic. In case no one noticed, I closed the off season baseball thread for a similar reason and if this bad habit continues in the hockey threads I think you are all smart enough to see what will happen. This thread will be cleaned later today but any off topic or smart ass comments made after this post will result in an immediate, and long, suspension for the poster.

Leafs vs Stars tonight, should be a great game. Reimer is getting close but the "Monster" has been a monster the last 3 games, hopefully it continues in big D.

Reimer is now practicing with the team & only needs to get back into game shape. I read yesterday that he's a couple of weeks from game action. No use to rush him since both Monster & Scrivens have been doing an adequate job lately. They're getting used to playing on a regular basis & the rest of the team is getting more comfortable playing in front of them.

Dallas has been one of the NHL's top teams (like the Leafs) this season. Turco, Modano & Zubov are gone, having been replaced by a younger group of players. It won't be a 'walk-in-the-park' tonight for the Leafs. Dallas' coach indicated that he's worried about the Leafs' speed & added it should be an interesting game.

I'm currently watching the Bruins/Detroit game. It's 2-1 Red Wings midway in the 2nd. It's a good game so far. Then it's Habs/Philly at 3pm & i really don't care who'll win this game since i'm not exactly a huge fan of both of these teams.

Nice seeing Calgary claiming Blake Comeau off waivers from Long Island. He's got good wheels & have shown to possess a good scoring touch in the past. I would have liked to see him getting picked up by the Leafs, but since Calgary was 4th in the picking order, the Leafs didn't have a chance to pick him had they chose to. I can't believe that the Islanders already gave up on this kid. I guess nothing changes much in that organization.....it stinks!

The Bruins have good balance, are very well coached, but i fear for Claude Therrien's job if ever the team would get into a slump since Cam Neely hates his guts & only wants an excuse to fire him. Hang in there, Claude!

I'm in almost complete agreement Doc...except that I'm more worried about Claude Julien being fired than Claude Therrien.

Rick Middleton was a damn good player. He deserved his nickname "Nifty". My top 5 favorite Bruins over the years (in no particular order) are Orr, Esposito, Bucyk, Middleton and Bourque. Why? Well here goes:

Orr- unmatched talent, classy and ethical, humble, great sense of humor (ask Espo about the hospital episode!)

Espo - tough, determined, consistent and a proud and gutsy warrior in 72

Bucyk - durable and consistent, for many years just about the only good thing about the Bruins

Middleton - slick, creative and definitely "nifty"

Bourque - classy, steady and reliable
