What I meant is 26 points against that team was acceptable and perhaps enough to win if the offence pulls its weight. Based on the 57 total and 5 point spreads the books predicted a 31-26 final. They were clearly outplayed on all sides of the ball and yes the defence gave up a ton of yards but they did their part by giving up 3's instead of 7's. I certainly didn't mean it's all on Brady and perhaps my choice of words was inappropriate but we all knew going in 16 points would never be anywhere near enough points to win.

I think losing Talib on the Welker hit hurt the Patriots' pass defense badly. Even with Talib they did not have enough men to cover the Broncos' 4 superior receivers. When Talib went out this manpower deficit became even worse. The Patriots had to deal with a lot of injuries already and you can only lose so many guys. For most NFL teams there is a big dropoff when they go to their bench because teams cannot afford to pay anything for quality backups, even at the QB position. Therefore when injuries happen, inexperienced and younger players have to get shuffled into the rotation. The Broncos seem to have a bit more depth defensively than what was anticipated. But the Pats just lost too many guys. Belichik was clearly frustrated by the Talib injury and it prevented adjustments he probably would have liked to make at halftime.

Interesting stat that I read today, Tom Brady is ranked 31 among starting QB in passes over 25 yards(there are only 32 teams in the league), what does this mean, it means that you can put any QB with that boring dink and dunk passing game plan that Belichick has effectively implemented and they would be successful, ex: Matt Cassell, was good in New England but totally sucked monkey balls every place else that he has played, if I was New England I would trade Brady and get something of value, he will be 37 next year and is in serious decline, have fun on the golf course New England.:lol:

The Patriots were really feeling the loss of their key defensive starters. Wilfork who forces double teams, Mayo and his incredible hard hitting mobility, and clearly the loss of Talib (among others) during the game allowed the Broncos significantly more receiver freedom. Demarius Thomas who was held to about 42 yards in the first meeting gained over 130 yards in this one. Yet the Patriots only lost by 10 points in the end. The Broncos controlled the game from start to finish, but never ran away with it against a very depleted Patriots team when conditions were near perfect for Manning. I'm surprised it wasn't a blowout. I don't think this speaks well of Denver's effectiveness despite the total yards.
The Seahawks are not the Patriots. They are reasonably healthy. They have a very good pass rush and will be guaranteed to get their licks in against a Broncos line that has faults. Seattle also has much better defensive backs than the Patriots. With the long range forecast predicting 20s the situation will be far different with a much better defense and cold to harsh weather. While the Seahawks quarterback can't possibly compare to either Brady or P. Manning, anyone who thinks the Broncos are a lock or likely to win knows NOTHING about football and the situation with these teams.
Personally I have nothing against P. Manning, but I'll cheer for the Seahawks because the referees badly cheated them the last time they were in the Super Bowl, and I always like to see new teams get a trophy. If the weather is bad in New York that day, the edge will be with Seattle, it might be anyway if they had a better quarterback.

Interesting stat for what its worth, not factoring in the point spread . When the #1 offensive team makes the Super Bowl they are 12-10. When the #1 defensive team makes the Big Game they are 12-3!!!! Enough said, lol.
In baseball good pitching stops good hitting and in football good defense usually stops good offense. In the modern NFL, a defense getting pressure on the QB and having shutdown cornerbacks is of paramount importance. However, Denver is a clever pass offense which spreads the ball around and if any one guy gets shut down by Richard Sherman, then there are other guys to throw to. Also, Denver has a good pass protecting OL, which I think is why Manning signed with them in the first place. So if you pick Seattle I would be careful in analyzing these issues. I assume Sherman will cover DeMaryius Thomas but who will cover Welker, Decker and the other Thomas?
I'm pretty sure my main play will be the under and if the weather is iffy I'll feel better about betting Seattle. That D will find a way to pressure Manning.

Here's a GREAT IDEA by the liberals. I just want to make sure that the penalty is enforced uniformly throughout the league. Since the African-American population in the NFL is 66.72% (2014 Figures) I expect to see roughly that in penalties for that demographic. Of course we'll have to keep track of it on a team basis and create some type of statistic. For that 67.72 to say that it's part of their cultural language is a cop-out. I like this idea as long as we're also covering words like "W____-Boy", "Cr__ker", and other slang no-no words. Surely we'll have to have an accepted list to be continuously added to in order to keep up with societal and cultural change.

Could you show me where Martin also beat up his own brand new $300,000 Ferrari with a baseball bat. In an audio tape played on WEEI, Incognito admitted to attacking his own car and now says he's checking in for some sort of counseling. Incognito's lawyer is going to have to do some superb acrobatic legal twisting to explain why his client was mentally unstable enough to batter his own prize sports car and why that display of craziness shouldn't bear on a long pattern of abuse against teammates, and the case versus Jonathan Martin specifically.

My thoughts are that the New England Patriots will not make the playoffs, especially after losing their best defensive player to Denver, it is so bad in New England that Wilfork wants out and Edelman is refusing to sign with them (they see the writing on the wall), they also have a 37 year old QB, historically how many good 37 year old football players have their been?, not many, I also like the moves that the Dolphins made, Albert is an upgrade over Martin and a former first round pick, next year should be a good year for the Dolphins.
You should never make such a statement with a lifetime Dolphins fan around. I can still remember a 37 year old Earl Morrall tucking the ball under his shoulder and running down the field for like 40+ yards during one game. Let's remember that he took over for Bob Griese during the 17-0 season and took the Dolphins to the AFC Championship. So how does this exit measure up to the fact Darrell Rivas, the best corner in the NFL, could have gone anywhere for more money than Aqib Talib got ($56 milllion) and yet he choose to go to the Patriots for only $12 million. In the exchange the Patriots upgraded significantly. I still don't like Rivas as a person, but he is a great corner we can use.

The word is that Edelman is having trouble finding takers for his asking price. It may be that other teams recognize he is good in a certain system they don't have. But either way the Patriots aren't willing to offer anything higher than they think he is really worth.

Joe, I don't see the Patriots as weak AS YOU WISH. Based upon what I'm observing, the Dolphins are prepping for a much better than average 2014.
