Leylah kept the match close but allowed Jackie to win a higher % of points on serve. Jackie is a 6 footer. Leylah struggles to do more than stay competitive against such bigger girls. Her only solution to take the next step with her career is PEDs. She needs to consult Jannik Sinner.

She is similar to Michael Chang the American men's player. He did win a French Open at a young age but spent the rest of his career doing enough to make money but never winning a Major again as he would always get overpowered by Becker, Sampras, Edberg, Courier, etc. He relied on speed and lateral movement but succumbed to power as with Leylah. She needs to hit the PEDs or she will have a career like Chang. And never get to a major final again. She is just consistently getting overpowered by larger opponents.

Do they have a 5'6" and under circuit for the women? Maybe they should. Leylah would start winning and dominating!

Not long ago she was crying on the courts when things got bad for her.
What a change a few months of maturity did !
I coached girls softball, with girls a few years younger. We had a very good pitcher who would get wild and lose the strike zone and when she did, she would start crying, like a cry me a river situation. I used to go out to the mound and try and calm her down as best I could. She was our best pitcher, but unreliable due to her emotional immaturity.

In the professional tennis world there is a lot more pressure obviously, and for a younger girl it can be overwhelming. Whether it's been her coaching, maturity or some other light bulb going off, she is getting big results and looks like she could be in the top 10 for a long time.

This afternoon a young 19 years old Philippian,140th in the world, won against Swiatek in 2 sets !
She's a lefty like Leyla Fernandez and very cute to booth.
She won against Madison Keys and Jelena Ostapenko in the previous rounds.
