It blows my mind. That would make for a great TV show. Can you imagine LE operating something like MERB? They would know almost every SP's and clients in the city. Not mentioning that the program would finance itself.

Je ne veux surtout pas défendre XO ou toutes autres agences mais, ce point ne semble pas avoir été prouvé. Si ça avait été le cas, l’agence aurait été fermée ipso facto et des poursuites entamées.
Ça me semble être un cas de dénonciation, où, après enquête, on a rien trouvé comme preuve. Mais l’article le mentionne uniquement dans un but sensationnaliste. Je peux me tromper mais, il n’y a pas de trace d’un procès dans ce sens.
L'article de la presse ne mentionne pas d'accusations en lien avec des mineurs non plus.
Ils n'ont pas besoin et on est pas stupide...
Y'a des centaines de salons de massage et des dizaines d'agences d'escorte, le tout est toléré à Montréal et environs... mais quand tu touches aux mineurs, ce n'est plus toléré, avec raison.

Yes XO SP came and left, how much blackmail and coercion was going on only they know but all indications are that there was a fair amount.

I worked 8 years for a company owned by someone born in the same country as I and actually a sponsor of the team I played for professionally also.
I was taken advantage of, underpayed, probably one of the worst places I ever worked in my life, yes I could have left at anytime but I learned a trade that later allowed me to travel the world, earn an amazing salary and be able to afford a much better life style for my family. I knew I had to stay and finish what I started no matter how difficult.
Having a choice to leave is not always the answer especially if the owners can blackmail you and make your life difficult . If you are a naive young woman with no back up and no one to look out for you for sure it must be extremely difficult and scary.
Lets be real here, there is no such thing as an ethical way of paying people to fuck them!
I never it should be that. I just said there got to be consequences. Btw strippers are penalized for coming late and got to pay a much higher bar service fee. What penalty would you consider as acceptable for repeat cancellations?
This reminds me that I once worked for a law firm at which real estate paralegals were "fined" if they made mistakes in real estate closing statements. For example if there was a $200 mistake, $200 would be taken out of their pay. This was back in the 1990s when I was a very young associate at a law firm I only worked at for 2.5 years. The employer's rationale behind these "fines" was that it would "deter" them from making the same mistakes again. I suppose a similar rationale to a hockey fine designed to "deter" excessively violent conduct.
I have since worked for many firms and I never saw it done before or since. I absolutely think it was abhorrent. You sit down with the paralegal, discuss her mistake with her and retrain her so it doesn't happen again. If she keeps making the same mistake after retraining, then you let her go. That's how it usually goes.
Things have changed a lot since. Today you can put all 3 groups on the same level since, street gangs have upped their game and are now, as violent as the others.
Now if you ever believe that escort agencies were run by priests, maybe its time to open your eyes. Mafia, Bikers and now, street gangs have been running the sex business for âges, stripclubs, massage parlors, escorts name it, its all organized crime controlled.
Street gang criminals are as rich and as involved as the other organized crime, only the structure is different. Havent you see the news in the past 5-6 years?

You constantly refer back to times that are ancient history and nobody gives a fuck about and you haven’t been in Montreal in ages and know fuck all of recent events.

Btw nobody gives a fuck about the courts in the USA either. We live in Montreal and we are concerned with LE here and how seriously LE may take the situation after cracking down on XO.
For me there is a whole difference between paying for someone blackmailed, intimidated, manipulated, minor or else versus paying versus someone like Sonia Von Sacher who seems to be happy. That is my moral line that legal or not I will not crossed.

I think most of us would agree with everything you said , however Capt is correct that there is no such thing as ethically paying for sex especially when it is against the law.
Because what happened 20 years ago and organizations of businesses wasn't new then and it's not a new development now. It didn't disappear and it's a part of the history of the business. You are supposed to learn from history and not ignore it. The debate is not a new one.
Quebec law is exactly the same as CT law on independent contractor status as is mentioned in my post. It's also pretty much the law in all 50 states. So you should give a fuck. If you took a bar exam anywhere and guessed that it's what you file your taxes as you guessed wrong. Do a 10 second AI search and you will know this.
