Cabrera has been solid at 3B. I am surprised at how well he has done the past two years. I did not expect this.

Just to back up the point made in the article, Valverde (Papa Grande) gave up 6 homeruns in his last 7 1/3 innings and he still had 9 of 12 saves!

5 team race

It's a 5 team race for the AL East.

All 5 teams are over .500, and the last place team is only 6 games behind the first place team.

http://espn.go.com/mlb/standings/_/date/20130622

I have been saying that it will be a 5 team race and I have been scoffed at.

Any team can win the Division.

I was at the game yesterday, what a atmosphere, it was electric, Chien Ming Wang was lights out again, how the Yankees let him go is beyond me, his fielding was outstanding and he looks healthy, it was fun watching the game at Rogers, I am happy that Toronto has finally turned it around(just like I predicted), I predict Kawasaki stays, he does too much for the building, fans were chanting his name throughout the game.

Well, it's not beyond me. Brian Cashman has made any number of stupid moves over the years, squandering almost two billion dollars of the money the Steingrabber brothers worked hard to inherit in the process.

Interesting matchup in Detroit today, the veteran ace Verlander vs. the up and coming young lefty Doubront.

Verlander and a Verlander-like 1.83 ERA in April, 6.41 in May, and 3.81 so far in June, while Doubront has a 2.81 ERA in his last seven starts, including eight 3 hit, no walk innings in his last outing versus Baltimore, a team that, unlike the light hitting Yankees, can actually put the bat on the ball.

And yet it boggles your "mind" that the Yanks are only 2.5 games back in late June lol...... your posts prove it.... you never change rumps and please dont, too much fun reading your "wishful thinking" in this thread every month. (minus sept and oct for obvious reasons)

Will the Jays tie their record and win their 11th in a row today???? They're currently leading 9-0 against the Orioles in the 3rd and have just hit for the cycle! Go Jays Go!!!!! :thumb:

p.s. Freddie Garcia barely lasted two innings. Why is this guy still in baseball?? It looked like he was throwing batting practice all afternoon long! (oops, for barely 2 innings)

I predict Kawasaki stays, he does too much for the building, fans were chanting his name throughout the game.

Everyone loves Kawasaki. Mark Buehrle even said the other day that he was the best teammate that he'd ever played with. However, Anthopoulos has no choice but to send him down, unless they send one of the pitchers down.

Kawasaki won't get much playing time once Jose Reyes returns (likely tomorrow), and the team can still send him down without putting him on waivers.

I agree that Wang has been a revelation so far. You watch him pitch & you tell yourself "now, that's a guy who knows how to pitch!" Pitching coach Pete Walker told him to add some off-speed stuff to his usual repertoire during his first game in Chicago and he's been tremendous so far. I also cannot understand why he wasn't called up by the Yankees. But who knows, it's quite possible he wouldn't have had the same type of success he's having had he remained in NY.

Another of Walker's star pupils up to date has been Esmil Rogers. Before he was recently promoted to the starting staff, he didn't shine much out of the bullpen and only had 2 pitches. Walker got him to use 2 more pitches in order to mix things up more & so far, that formula has paid off dividends.

p.s. Joe, did you check out the new outfield section (a.k.a. The Budweiser Zone) while at the ballgame? Seems like a lot of fun out there. I was in that section briefly about two weeks ago. That area always seems to be full, though.

Chien Ming Wang has bounced around after his impressive rookie year in 2005 with the Yankees and 2 great years following before his injury in 2008. He was with the Washington Senators in 2011 and 2012, having 2 mediocre years.

Maybe he has rediscovered his magic with the Blue Jays? But it's just one game. Plus, he's a free agent and 33 years old.

Three games. Wang has pitched in three games for the Jays. His last two starts were gems. I believe that with the right pitching coach, and the RIGHT TEAM, then he can still succeed in the majors. Can't blame the guy for giving the Yankees his big middle finger in order to join a team who's outlook is much more promising. Plus, Wang was too young for this Yankees squad!

If you'd paid attention to his posting history, Smuler, you'd be aware that he's living in a different century.

Senators- I pictured Frank Howard

He once charged the mound when he was a Met coach, after a player was headhunting at Shea one night

You had to see the horror in the pitcher's eyes as Frank was leading the charge

Best Regards

Smuler

PS- nothing against you daydreamer...
