I wonder if this was Martin St-Louis' last game. He's UFA and i doubt the Rangers will re-sign him. If he doesn't retire, maybe Brooklyn or Newark will be his next destination?

Will the Rangers try to trade Rick Nash and his big fat contract? He's not worth $8 million. Would Babcock maybe prefer him over Kessel? Kessel would look good on Broadway with his speed on that team.

Congrats to the Lightning

More To follow...

No shame in losing to the Lightning. Any team with the great Steve Yzerman as GM is bound to do well and the Bolts proved it by beating 3 good teams in Detroit, Habs and Rangers. Yzerman is a hockey genius, not like some overrated FORMER GMs who went to a crappy team, exhibited a lot of bluster, and then proceeded to completely FAIL by doing even worse than their predecessor and by also ruining any future for the team with a series of disastrous trades and ridiculous contracts.

Bravo Stevie!

An insider hinted to me last night that he heard the Devils will name former Leaf Phil Housley as their new coach.

Look behind you.
Does not matter to me who wins now but would prefer one of the original 6, it would have been nice to have had 2 in the playoffs...

I was hoping it would be the Rangers versus Anaheim, but we didn't make it

My congratulations to the final two
Tampa and Chicago :thumb:

Duncan Keith proved once and for all during the entire playoffs that he's by far the best defenceman in the world. It only goes to show that individual awards are a joke and nothing but a popularity contest. If a player is popular with the hockey media and he's a pretty good player, he has a chance at a nomination. If he's not, good luck to him.

The Ottawa kid wins my vote. Especially after that crushing hit he made in the first round. I didn't expect that. Duncan Keith is a GREAT defenceman. But he's also on a damn good team that lets him showcase his strengths to their greatest. He's also a damn great money player. But if you had first choice in a fantasy GM role, would you really pick him?

'Hawks in 7. Selfish me just wants to see a great Finals cap a fantastic playoffs. It deserves to go to 7, right boys?

I can't believe the Bolts got this far.... The Rangers were such a stacked team. Good for Tampa. Also shows the Wings were a pretty quality opponent in the first round. :thumb:

Not surprised Anaheim didn't make it, not with that clownass of a coach and a punk like Perry. Getzlaf deserves a Cup though. Great player. Toews is better, though. Yzerman, take two, but better. (Did I just really type that?...)

Getzlaf deserves a Cup though.

If you have first choice on any defensmen in the league you'll pick up Erik Karlsson?

Getzlaf already won the cup once

I would pick Lidstrom! But alas he's retired! :p I would pick a guy like Lidstrom who can play in all situations, and be elite.

Keith, to me, is a lesser Scott Niedermeyer, much less. Not quite franchise. I haven't seen enough of Karlsson to make that call. What I have seen of him, in that very limited capacity, I like. Especially that hit. Kronwall-esque. He's a gamechanger.

The league used to have fantastic fantastic elite defencemen. Not so much of late. Everybody is sorta vanilla. There's no Pronger, MacInnis, Lidstrom, Niedermeyer Norris races anymore, sadly. Drew Doughty is pretty close to that level. Weber is getting there, he reminds me of MacInnis with that huge slap shot and always getting hurt. Chara is old. Subban would be elite if he ever stopped making these bonehead decisions that cost his team. Who else? Nobody clear cut.

(And I meant another Cup for Getzlaf. That dude is a beast.)

Steve Why was good but Toews is as good and still has time to surpass the Why-guy and will end up being the better player when all is said and done, Doc told me so.
Sorry Wolfie but I can't buy this. Agree that Toews is great...but Yzerman was quite a bit greater.

Doc also thought Kessel and Phaneuf were good. How did that end up?

Better be careful there, Dion was almost a redwing and still could be, who knows? Then of course he would have gone from good to great lol....

Remember Alexandre Daigle? Now that guy was NOT good and "ended up" pretty badly.

Do you mean like the way Mike Babcock went from being "The Big Cock", "no better than many other coaches", and "not the right guy for Toronto" to SUDDENLY and MAGICALLY being "the best coach in the world" as soon as he got his $50 million contract with the Leafs?

In any case, WHOEVER Dion "plays" for he will NEVER, EVER be close to "great"

I'm not like our resident turncoat Cairo. I've actually praised Mr. Babcock in 95% of my posts about him over the past year. I've always said he was a great coach and that Detroit (worse city in North America) was extremely lucky to have him.

Indeed, i did say a couple of weeks ago that he may not be a perfect fit for the Leafs and that Todd McLellan MAY be a better fit at the current time. However, Babcock won me over during his interviews after being hired by the greatest hockey franchise in the planet.
