If Babcock brought a Stanley cup to Buffalo it would also be an amazing feat, 50 mil sealed the deal.

Babcock did imply in a couple of interviews that his family didn't want to relocate to Buffalo. They had a discussion about where to go on Wednesday morning. His kids are in Canadian universities and his wife Maureen didn't want anything to do with Buffalo. Can't really blame her. They're buying a condo in downtown Toronto.

Congratulations to the Babcocks for FINALLY escaping the dreadful city of Detroit.

Yup, between coaching for the most popular franchise in NHL history and living in one of the top cities in the entire World, it was a very easy choice for Mike and Maureen. He went on to say he and his wife are excited to live in downtown alone and sounds like he is truly in love with her like the day they said their "I do's" Great guy and proud to welcome the Babcocks to Toronto and to Leafs Nation!

Albert Ladouceur R.I.P.

Sports journalist Albert Ladouceur has died in a Quebec hospital at the age of 63.
Ladouceur had suffered from pancreas cancer since August 2013.

He published a book in April 2014 called “Déjoué par le cancer”, which had a preface written by former Quebec Nordique Peter Stastny. He also published a second book called “Raconte-moi les Nordiques.”

Ladouceur worked for the Journal de Quebec and was last featured in their paper in mid-April.

He was born in Montreal on December 14, 1951 and started out at the Montreal-Matin in 1973 where he contributed to coverage of the Montreal Canadiens.

In 1979, he started to cover the Quebec Nordiques.

Ladouceur was one of the rare journalists to cover every season the Nordiques played in the National Hockey League before they moved to Colorado in May 1995.

He also had a good reputation as a boxing journalist.

In an October 2013 interview, Ladouceur noted his coverage of the boxing world championship between heavyweights Muhammad Ali and Leon Spinks in September 1978 in New Orleans as one of his most memorable moments of his career.

THE GREAT MIKE BABCOCK IS COMING TO TORONTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BABCOCK.jpg

We have a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in our midst.

I do remember a post that Doc Holliday had written stating that Mike Babcock was over-rated and that, for example,

Joel Quenneville was a much better coach, having won two Stanley Cups compared to one by Babcock.

He goes on saying that the two gold medals won by Babcock, could have been won by any coach because of the star talent

on the team.

He even went further, by saying that he, himself, Doc Holiday could have coached the team to a gold medal.

Mr.Hyde, you can delete many your posts but we have a very good memory.

You heard it here:amen:

Ballsy,

I have never seen anyone stalk someone on a review board as much as you stalk Doc, just unreal and frankly, a little scary. How about a post about, oh i dont know, The Escort Business for example  ...........

As far as Babs, i love how upset it has gotten everyone in the hockey world who is not a Leafs fan. The Leafs hire the best coach in the world and others still try to discredit the Leafs hahahah, sorry but hiring the BEST anything is never a bad decision and Babs has never looked happier since he last won the Cup or Olympic Gold. He is in for a rough road (for him out of his burning desire to win) but the reward down that road will be sweeter than a beautiful womans delicate flower :D

If, me being critical of some of Doc's post bother you, than ignore me as he does but do not prevent me from posting

by accusing me of stalking him.

As I remember, you have been accused of stalking by reviewing other posters post history, so buss off

Ballsy,

You just noticed this now?

It's okay, don't worry about it. Both you and I have a couple of stalkers watching our every post. Heck, MISTER Cairo is even posting in the baseball threads now! That's good for board traffic! ;)

I also enjoy the odd stalker once in a while. It means that i always have an audience & keeps me wanting to post more! And you know me better than anyone else....I love it! No matter how seroius or stupid one of my posts may be, i always get a reaction and it works all the time! :thumb:

Just saying, my friend.

If i can help you with any info on someone you might like to see, by all means pm me and i will help if i can.

You know, Ig, this post of yours actually seems like a personal attack on Ballsamic rather than a hockey post.

Ballsamic's post which started your tirade WAS about hockey. He very accurately pointed out that certain Leaf supporters had no praise for Babcock until he was hired by the Leafs, at which point they began praising him to the skies.

Unfortunately this is typical of Leaf fans. In the case in point, there are two possibilities. One is that Babcock IS the best coach in the world. Well, if we accept that, then we should realize that he didn't SUDDENLY become that on May 20 after sucking for many years.

The other possibility is that Babcock is no better than many other coaches. Well, that would then justify the comments before he joined the Leafs but would make a lie of the current braggadocio that Toronto now has "the best coach in the world". You can't have it BOTH ways...but the Toronto fans always TRY to, which is why so many hockey followers pity them.

In actuality, Babcock is and always has been a very good coach...but there are and always have been several OTHER very good coaches also. Besides, a coach CAN obviously have an impact on his team...but only to a certain degree. Ultimately it's the PLAYERS who score the goals and the PLAYERS who prevent the goals.

Babcock has always been blessed with excellent teams. In Toronto that will obviously change, which is why I (along with many others) am eagerly looking forward to seeing what will happen next season. I'm very glad that Babcock is gone from Detroit (even though, yes, he IS a good coach) because I do NOT like how he disrespected the Wings, I think he has worn out his welcome especially with Detroit's many young players, and I want to see what a proven winner like Blashill can do.

What annoys me is the hypocrisy of posters who praise a guy to the skies when he's on their team but dis him when he's not. What amuses me, on the other hand, is when fans praise every single move their team makes even after all the previous moves have proven to be hopeless (viz: Burke, Nonis, Wilson, Carlyle, Horachek, Kessel, Phaneuf, Lupul, Clarkson, Rask for Raycroft, Colton Not Bobby Orr, Gunnarson, Tlusty, and on and on and on.

Go get 'em Babs - show us what the Leafs can do!

For the record, Doc did say Babs was over-rated and not the best candidate for the Leafs job before. I'm too lazy to go back and find that post...

Also for the record, the Wings fans on this board haven't exactly gone postal on Babs for leaving. We have a very good understudy who will step in - Blashill - and he'll do just fine. Babs was a great Red Wing coach for a decade, and we thank him for his service. But paying a hockey coach this much is a bit desperate, no matter how good the coach. I'm glad Kenny didn't embarrass himself. Just my opinion. The culture and the organization up-and-down in Detroit are built for sustained success. We'll be fine.

(BTW, after Scotty left, it was Dave Lewis who coached two years before Babs. Lewie was not the greatest, but we also did just fine. It doesn't make that much of a difference who's actually coaching the Wings, so long as the rest of the org is intact, especially our scouting department.)

Cheers,
W (someone who DOES post plenty about the hobby :D)

Good luck, you'd never be able to find it. Mr. Holliday has an incredible knack for going back and deleting all of his incriminating posts. If he didn't, he would easily have over a 25K post count by now.

Wow... Someone cares too much... And has a little too much time on their hands. Really? :p I guess if you care... To each, their own.

Hockey Fans,

You'll have to speak to Doc about that. He's made some very damning statements about your hero Babcock. OH, I believe Doc is a Leafs fan.

For the record, Doc did say Babs was over-rated and not the best candidate for the Leafs job before. I'm too lazy to go back and find that post...

Correct. And very inconsistent since then.

The problem with the lack of suitors for Babcock is that many GMs have realized that he may not be as good as they thought, considering it's been ages since he's taken the Red Wings past the first round of the playoffs. If you compare both coaches' records over the past few seasons, Ken Hitchcock could be considered a much better coach than Babcock. GMs have also realized that any coach with a lineup of premium players would have won the gold medal at the Sochi Olympics. I'm confidant to say that had i been chosen to lead Team Canada at those Olympics. i would have won a gold medal.

And let me state it here: I don't believe that at this current time Babcock is the right fit for the Toronto Maple Leafs. I won't be disappointed if the Leafs do hire Babcock, but i also won't be disappointed if he doesn't wind up there since they'll overpay for him and he may not be the right fit.

How do you expect him to bring passion to his coaching when it's obvious he's only in it for the money??

Many teams realized he's no better than the likes of Hitchcock, McLellan & even Therrien. Heck, some believed he was heading to Philly until Hextall surprised everyone and hired a college hockey no-name named Hakstol. And let's be honest: Big Cock hasn't really done much in Detroit over the past 8 years and that team certainly isn't ready to contend for the Cup for another 5 years or more.

I hope he enjoys his millions & living in Buffalo
!

Funny how opinions spin completely around once a guy is signed to your team. All the absolute doubts and knocks on Babcock...POOOOFFF....Disappear.

Cheers,

Merlot
