10 game losing streak and counting, be proud Bosdone.

What a big mistake it was to take the Fraud Sox on my ticket, to actually think that they would win a game, what was I thinking:rolleyes:, this team stinks to high heaven.

6 more days left to go in the month of May, what are the chances of the Fraud Sox to actually win a game?.

Josh Beckett throws a no-no today

I know 1 team that sure wishes they still had an ace like Josh Beckett in their starting rotation these days... he would be great for helping to snap a "streak" ;)

Boston now goes to Atlanta which is not an easy place to play. They better pick it up or this will go to 13 in a hurry. I saw the Braves in person in spring training and they have a good team.

David Ortiz homered and drove in four runs as the Boston Red Sox ended their 10-game losing streak, rallying from a five-run deficit to defeat the Atlanta Braves 8-6 on Monday.

The defending World Series champions trailed 6-1 after the fourth, with starter Clay Buchholz walking a career-high eight in only three-plus innings.

But Ortiz tied it by hitting a three-run homer off Ervin Santana in the fifth. With Red Sox fans at Turner Field chanting ''Papi! Papi!'' the World Series MVP then gave Boston the lead with a bases-loaded sacrifice fly off Ian Thomas (1-2) in the seventh.

Following pregame declarations of confidence from manager John Farrell and general manager Ben Cherington, the Red Sox came back to end their worst skid since an 11-game slide in 1994.

Buchholz walks 8 in 3 innings, giving up 6 ER. It must have been the worst start by a Red Sox starter evah. David Ortiz bails the Sox out with a home run and 4 RBI's, like he does often. But he's 38. He can't bail the Red Sox out much longer. He's reaching retirement age. Isn't he?????

The Red Sox biggest mistake evah was not trading Buccholz when the ceiling was high, this guy needs to get out of the AL East in order to try and resurrect his once promising career, he most likely will not be a Red Sox next year or maybe even before the trade deadline this year, I personally think that the best place for an injury prone guy like him is the bullpen.

I tried to PM Doc Holliday re: the declaration that the Yankees weren't going to finish in last place -- but it turns out he's not accepting PMs! I have nothing to base this on other than the fact that I've been a Yankee fan for 40 years now. The current team is thinking playoffs! The very idea that they might finish in last place is not something that they've even considered! It's just not going to happen. Leave last place to some losers in Tampa Bay, but it's not going to happen in New York .... BTW, I'm working 60-80 hours a week, so I can't watch too many ball games, but I know my team. Last place in the AL East will NEVER happen!

Well said Gurgeh85! Just be happy we were born and raised as Yankee fans. It is one of lifes greatest gifts. Doc is a great guy but I agree, we will never see the Yankees finish last in our lifetime as long as the Steinbrenners own the team.

He seemed to be really pissed off at me when I wrote that, too! Just to head this one off at the pass, I'm stating what I actually believe to be true, I'm not just shit-talking. The Yankees right now are thinking playoffs, and once they make the playoffs, they're going to start thinking World Series. It's just the way they are. Do they feel they're entitled? Maybe. But I'm happy to be a fan of a team that believes they're going to win it all when they walk out onto the field on opening day. The team they have right now might be mediocre, or maybe a bit better than mediocre, but they still believe in themselves. And, who knows? They might just win it all again...

Gurgeh85,

I totally agree with your last post. There is no basis to believe the Yankees will finish in last. Even in a worst case scenario if CC and Pineda do not come back til the All Star break, they will stay afloat and then trade for a pitcher at the trade deadline. The Yankees have solid depth and the resources to acquire added depth when they need to which is how they are able to keep the team competitive. I also think Girardi and Cashman are very very good at what they do and they keep the team competitive. They stress acquisition of high character, high work ethic players. Girardi has been criticized for overplaying certain veterans (like Stewart last year) and developing pets, but that is about the only issue you can harp on with him and it is due to his loyalty to his players.

BOYZ!

So how do you feel now? :D Whichever team showed up it wasn't the good one. I can't say I'm very encouraged that the Red Sox swept the Braves for four straight games. It was satisfying that the Sox could come back a number of times to win, but the Braves defense was a truly royal festival of how to suck in the field. I'm happy for our wins, but because the Braves played so bad I'm not seeing much to get out of it regarding future games, except that it might reenergize the Sox players...for a time.

Hallelujah Joe.t I finally agree with you!

Yeah, I was not happy at all with the way the second half of 2013 went with him. He barely pulled his weight when we needed him. Now his confidence and mechanics are screwed up as a veteran player. That's a very poor and troubling indicator. The guy can be awesome when he's on, which has become rare, and he's a mess when he should be a stalwart of the pitching staff by this time.

And, who knows? They might just win it all again...

I'm sure they will. But what year or century will that be??? ;) You didn't indicate this year, but if what you meant is 2014 I'll go on record right now saying they definitely won't win the series as built right now, and as definitely not even get there.

They stress acquisition of high character, high work ethic players.

As per A-Rod for instance. Or did you mean HIGH DOSAGE!   I have to harkin back to Rumples on this one: you've said some ****** crap, but this is the....how soon you forget the great Yankee white elephant on his huge suspension for his HIGH CHARACTER AND WORK ETHIC. The "high character, high work ethic" Yankees were never down on Rodriguez and his cheating until he couldn't perform any more.

Clearly your mantra wasn't enough to keep Cano around. But you wouldn't be Yankees fans if you guys didn't act like you were always better than everyone else regardless of mediocrity.

Happy dreaming buds,

Merlot

Merlot,

A-Rod was not acquired or re-signed during the Girardi/consortium era of Yankees leadership (this also includes Newman and Cashman and Hal) and I was specifically talking about the Girardi/consortium era of leadership of the Yankees which started more recently. So it is you that have no idea what you are talking about.

Cano was let go in part because he was deemed to not be a high work ethic guy and that is a fact. There is considerable disagreement over whether this was perception or reality but the organization felt it was the case.

I would suggest you look at all the personnel decisions in the last 5 years rather than focus on one which was made more than 5 years ago with a different chef stirring the stew.

3 Red Sox managers have been ejected from tonight's game against TB. Boston is now on its 4th manager - Greg Colbrunn. I wonder who steps up if he is ejected? Pedroia as player-manager?

Boyzzzz!

Tanaka was pure filth again today. Mr.T's prediction that th Tanka-Man will lead the AL in K's this season is right on track. Jays win, Yankees win, it is a gorgeous summer type day outside and F1 week is upon us, now all we need to make this a perfect day is a rouge hose loss tonight. Who is this Ruby De la hoya guy they have starting? Any relation to Oscar?
