Most of those fans there are reasonable however about 90% of them are set on Galchenyuk being a true #1 centre and star BUT........he played well last year ONLY after the season was a wash and there was no pressure. I am still not sold that he is a #1 guy and a superstar in the making like these guys think he is, as always time will tell but lets see how he does in the first 20-30 games before the habbies fall off the cliff again.

Galchenyuk is better playing the off-wing. I don't see him at center since he rarely passes the puck. He's a puck-hog and you need a playmaker as your center in order to feed your wingers.

I read that the habs have parted ways with their analytics guy. He supposedly gave management a presentation prior to the Subban/Weber trade on why they should and must keep Subban. He was pissed when the trade was made and i'm hearing that's the reason why Bergevin let him go yesterday.

Congrats to former Ranger George McPhee on his new job as the Las Vegas GM

George, though undersized, was a true tough guy who was never afraid to stand up to someone much bigger than him

Here is on of my favorite NY Ranger moments, when he went after tough guy Rick Tocchet. George was giving up a lot of weight and height :

Former Canadiens analyst Matt Pfeffer clarifies on Subban trade

by Eric Engels, Sportsnet

Former Montreal Canadiens analytics consultant Matt Pfeffer had the following statement regarding Sportsnet’s report Wednesday that he made an impassioned presentation to team management opposing the P.K. Subban trade to the Nashville Predators for defenceman Shea Weber.

“Prior to the trade, I submitted a report comparing both players. I made a passionate case in favour of P.K. Subban.

“There was never a meeting with management.

“Ultimately, this is the nature of this kind of work. Management makes their decision based on a variety of criteria. Their evaluation may have been different in this case, but there was consensus on other decisions through my time with the team.”

Pfeffer, 21, was hired as a consultant in the summer of 2015. He was informed Wednesday that his contract would not be renewed.

Evander Kane charged with harassment after incident at bar

by Jay LaPrete, AP

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo police say Sabres forward Evander Kane has been charged with four counts of non-criminal harassment and one count of misdemeanour trespass after an incident at a city bar last month.

Police say the 24-year-old Kane surrendered to authorities Friday and was issued a court appearance ticket. Investigators say two women accused Kane of grabbing them at a bar on June 24.

According to the reports, one woman told police Kane threatened her inside the club and when outside, grabbed her throat. The second woman accused Kane of trying to force her from the bar.

Kane’s attorney, Paul Cambria, didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment.

In March, prosecutors said there was no evidence to support a sexual assault charge against Kane stemming from a December incident.

Kane has two years remaining on his contract.

Sounds like a perfect fit for Geoff Molson when he fires Bergervin and Therrien this season :)

It'd be like the habs hiring the NHL's version of Donald Trump to run their hockey team. Just imagine the constant daily drama! It would be HUGE!!!:lol::lol:

I seriously think Roy will end up back in his hometown of Quebec City with the Nordique once they get a team.

He's always been a quitter. And no team will ever want to hire this ticking time-bomb. He's uncontrollable!

He's always been a fucking spoiled brat. Been witness to this in certain social situations. A first class asshole. Canadians would be making a big mistake if they hired him. Would really surprise me if they did.

Any organization who hires him would be making a mistake. He wants to run the entire show. He's a dictator and very difficult to work with. I'm told most of his assistants in Colorado found him impossible to work with.

The World Cup of Hockey is very near. The next couple of weeks should be a good boost to Montreal since it'll host the exhibition games. I wonder if it'll affect the availability of lodging and if hotels will boost their rates during that time?
