I thought he called mtl a shithole. Anyway, what is somewhat frustrating is that tonton Bernie wants us to invest 30M in paddocks and VIP loges, but he raises default clauses and wants to pull the Gp at the first occasion.

I thought it was shithole also, but an article i read in a french newspaper referred to a 'rat hole' (according to the translation). But it's quite possible they translated wrong and it was indeed 'shit hole' that he said.

I don't really blame him for being upset if the deal they made when they signed the contract was for $30 million to be invested in paddocks and VIP loges renovations. A deal is a deal, after all. But was that really the deal that was made?

Belgism GP

I started to watch it about twenty minutes ago. Accidents galore. This may just be the most exciting GP of this season!

I forgot the summer break was over..just turned the race on

It looks like our friend " Racer " is needed to pull his buddy Kevin Magnussen out of the barriers at Eau Rouge , just like he did in Montreal in June

Today's update from Monza

Nico won, after Hamilton blew the start..
Hamilton , as usual, was a bitch at the weigh in, as he stood in the corner pouting while Nico and 3rd place finisher Vettel spoke to each other in German

Nico's only 2 points away from Hamilton now....

Felipe Massa announced his retirement..class guy..I predict he will go to World Endurance cars now ( Porsche/ Toyota/ Audi )

Jenson Button also announced a " sabbatical " ( sure retirement ) paving the way for young new shoe Stoffel Van Doorne ( watch this guy next year ! )

Now, it's off to Asia and North America ( Austin :usa2: )

Go Nico !!

That race literally put me to sleep. I feel asleep with 10 laps left and nothing happening. I woke up to see Nico, Hamilton and Vettel on the podium.

Bigger tires means better acceleration, better braking and could also bring more aero drag , less top speed! I wonder how stiff are they going to be , hope they will not be bouncing around the track ! They should put same size tyre all around the car , it would be less expensive and improve low speed drivability!

Hamilton will win the championship if Mercedes wants to !!!!
Hope that new improvements to Ferrrari will give hope for more victories!

Remember Prost/Senna battles! The f1 cars were less smart causing more errors so so much more fun !

That atrocious aurolea... The protection above the helmet they want implant is a deal breaker for me ...... Put some air bag !!!

Liberty Media has acquired Formula One :

http://ir.libertymedia.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=988264

Little man Bernie was pissed off last Sunday when he was asked about his future role..He stated " I don't know what you're talking about " :pound:

Supposedly he will make 800 million British pounds out of the sale

It is also rumored that BML was part of the negotiating team for his expertise as " knowing everything about everything "

Former Formula One and Indy car driver Alex Zanardi won another cycling gold at the paraolympics

He is a true hero..

He was almost dead on the racetrack after the accident in which he lost his legs

Came back to race using a specially modified racecar using only his hands

Then devoted himself to training for the Paraolympics the last couple years

What an inspiration !!!! :clap2::high5::first:

Alessandro Zanardi is indeed quite an inspiration. Many people in his situation following the terrible accident would rather have wanted to be dead. Many (including myself) complain about little things on a daily basis. We exaggerate our problems....we sometimes feel sorry for ourselves. But then we look at what Alex Zanardi has accomplished and continues to accomplish and our problems seem rather minuscule in comparison.

This past Sunday's rain-soaked GP in Brazil may have been the most exciting race i've seen all season! Max Verstappen was absolutely great and wound up finishing third!!

Will Montreal have a GP next June??

Rosberg retires

Nico Rosberg announced this morning that he's officially retiring from F1 at the age of 31. He wanted to retire on top and wants to spend more time with his family.

Look behind you.
Old thread and did not want to start a new one. Checking the weather for the F1 and still too far to get a proper reading, two days ago sunny Friday and Saturday with rain Sunday and now the opposite. I will not go to a rain race again, not much fun, will not go without bleacher seats either, the F1 has taken away most of the general seating areas with new stands. Will wait until the weekend and get bleacher scalper seats just before the race ( best time to haggle ), if it rains it is on TV. Sure wish NASCAR was still here, far more entertaining than the F1 race.

This has been going on for years STN

I have pictures of when I first came years ago, and was able to stand by the emergency run off area right by the guardrail in Turn 2 . The car would pass in front of you, exiting the hairpin, and you were 3 feet away..without earplugs, you were doing some serious damage to your eardrums :eek:

You can see the run off area to the left of the HSBC bridge..On the right on the bridge, years ago, there were no seats...

http://www.sports247.my/v1/wp-conte...-Prix-du-Canada-Circuit-Gilles-Villeneuve.jpg

Some general access areas gave you excellent up close seats ( better than grandstands ). One year I sat under a tree by Turn 8.. Right by the Marshal's cutout in the fence

Some people tried everything to access the woods along the course for their own little secret vantage points..

Until the organizers hired that French company to use Dobermans in the fenced off areas..that curbed the inquisitive

Looks like Lance Stroll will not be a factor..nice to have a local boy ( sort of ) in the race..too bad he's not peaking like Jacques Villeneuve did when he joined Williams after being with Players in Indy Light

Michael Schumacher won the race an amazing 7 times

Hamilton won it 5 times

Let's hope this year, he doesn't make it 6 :canada:

Personally, I am hoping for some rain during any Grand Prix because at times, it can result in a surprise winner...

It looks more & more that he wasn't yet ready to step into F1. Maybe he should have raced indycars for a year or two before making the jump. Jacques Villeneuve's reputation as an indycar driver was already established by the time he joined F1 and he had also won the Indy 500.

I had never seen Stroll racing until this season in F1. So far i haven't been very impressed.

I'll be attending the upcoming race for the first time in 11 years and i'll be cheering for Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari. Now i'm just hoping that i won't be watching the race in the rain!

I have been going for awhile now to both F1 and NASCAR ( until canceled ), NASCAR always had far better seating for general admission, far more off track entertainment and far more hot girls advertising items.
F1 is enjoyable but the red necks who see NASCAR plus added entertainment makes the day more fun. Just my opinion.
