Russia's strategy is to commit as many fouls as they can get away with committing (which is working- only two yellows) and get into PKs.
It looked like De Gea got out of the way with the 3rd Russian PK? I have to see replay on that.

The Russian goalie was stellar in the PKs, he looked athletic and the one he kick saved was awesome. De Gea on the other hand let at least one ball get by that was right at him and he should have had. As long as Russia plays like that in PKs, the strategy of doing nothing, committing as many fouls as they can get away with, and playing to get into PKs will serve them well.

But the Russian goalie was going headlong in one direction and the ball was going in the other direction when he stabbed out his leg and scissor kicked the ball away!!!!!! He adjusted to the shot in midair, a la Harry Houdini. A good goalie sometimes has to be a contortionist like Houdini and that is why Russia is moving on and Spain is on a plane home right now.
