With the Leafs already short of centres because of injuries to Matthews & Kamph & expected to put Max Domi at centre now we learn that Domi will miss tonight’s game due to a lower body injury. Wtf?
Please spare us of videos of Trump on the Sports threads, we have seen already way too much of him on the news and we will in the 4 next years !

Extremely impressive win by the Leafs indeed. Six regulars out & three call-ups from the farm who showed that you don’t have to pay 3rd & 4th liners more than a million. Any hard working hockey player with energy who knows his role can play on the 3rd & 4th lines & if they don’t do the job or want to there are plenty of hockey players out there who’ll be happy to take their jons away & do it well! Fraser Minten got his first NHL goal on a brilliant pass by Nylander & i really loved that big Russian kid who played his first NHL game. He reminded me of a Russian Hanson brother! Nice to see Joseph Woll get his second NHL shutout against one of the best teams in the league. Now the Leafs are off until Sunday & will be ready for Utah. Leafs are now in first place in their division having passed Florida. Hearing there’s a chance Matthews may play Sunday but my guess is that they’ll wait at least until the following Wednesday. They’re 6-1 without him in the lineup so why rush him back?
What i’m hearing is that Brunette is still considered to be among the league’s best coaches & Barry Trotz is in no hurry to start panicking. The fact the Preds play in a non-hockey market buys them time. I’ve also heard that if Brunette were fired it’s more likely than not that Trotz would be the one stepping behind the bench for the rest of the season. As for coach Q i’m told that he’d rather coach a team with Stanley Cup aspirations than one near the bottom of the league & filled with older veterans & possibly considering a rebuild. In other words not the right fit.
Also hearing that Gerard Gallant was seriously considered in the past for a head coaching position with the Habs. This is surprising to many since it’s long been the belief that a coach who speaks french is a must when it comes to the habs. However the habs did have strictly anglophone coaches in the past (Bob Berry, Toe Blake, Dick Irvin, Al McNeal, Randy Cunneyworth) so anything’s possible. Personally i think Jim Montgomery would be the perfect head coach for the Habs. He’s one of the top coaches in hockey, he’s from Montreal & he speaks french as well as he speaks english. He’s also well liked by the media.
Broken fibula. I’ve had this injury a few years ago. It rarely heals 100%. For me i could go weeks without feeling anything & then one day for whatever reason the discomfort would return. I was told by a doctor that the best time to get such an injury is when you’re younger.So Ovi is out for 4-6 weeks!!! Damn I feel for him, the man was on fire!
Sens are starting to remind me of last season’s team. So much promise & then they can’t find a way to win. Same problems as last season: poor goaltending & questionable defence. I love some of their defencemen but they all seem like the same type: offensive defenceman. The one i liked the most last season was Chychrun yet for whatever reason they got rid of him & traded him to Washington for a low return. I loved his physicality & he also had decent offensive skills. Signing Ullmark looks like a disaster. Is Ottawa the Bermuda Triangle for goaltenders? Is there some type of curse against goaltenders going on that i don’t know about? They better pull their heads out of their asses soon or else Brady Tkachuk will end up requesting a trade!
In other news the Maple Leafs just signed Alex Nylander to a one year contract & will join the Leafs this weekend taking up Mathews Knies’ spot. Knies was put on IR with an upper body injury. Nylander is expected to play Sunday vs Utah & i wouldn’t be surprised if Craig Berube puts him on the same line as his brother.
He was on a mission....he's hungry.....he wants that record. Bad luck for sure, and he's rarely been injured. I’m not an Ovie fan & it didn’t bother me one bit when he got injured. Injuries happen all the time. No one is immune from getting injured. However I’m curious at how this will affect team chemistry. The Caps have had a very good season so far & have been kind of riding on Ovie’s success. But now with their big goal scorer & leader out for up to two months will the team start regressing?

The Blues fired coach Drew Bannister and hired Jim Montgomery as his replacement just five days after the 2022 Jack Adams Award winner was let go by the Bruins.
Chicago did the same thing years ago when they fired Hawks legend Denis Savard & replaced him with Joel Quenneville who went on to win a couple of Cups. Same thing with Vegas when they fired Peter Deboer after Bruce Cassidy got fired in Boston 8 days earlier. He then won the Cup with Vegas. Were Kent Hughes & MSL not besties the Habs could have pulled the same move. Montrealer & french-speaking Jim Montgomery would have been the absolutely perfect coach for the Habs. These kinds of chances don’t happen very often & when they come up you have to pounce on them!
