That's because tomorrow is Thanksgiving. The NFL plays on Thanksgiving, the NHL andthe NBA does not. The NBA does compete with the NFL on Christmas Day. It's been this way for a long time. I think the NFL is not challenged on Thanksgiving largely for social and cultural reasons.

Nobody mentioned the Utah Hockey Club players being forced to walk to their game against the Leafs:

I think this situation should have resulted in an obstruction penalty on Toronto and they should have allowed Utah to start the game on a 5 minute power play.
Amid traffic, Utah walked to Leafs' arena pregame
The Utah Hockey Club said players were forced to walk to a game against the Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena while their bus sat in Toronto traffic Sunday because of a parade, and the team posted video to social media.
I’ve often walked the same path over the past dozen years. The hotels teams stay at aren’t that far from the Scotiabank Arena which is located right in downtown Toronto & connected to Union Station for people who prefer arriving to the game by GoTrain, the subway or walking using the underground city (PATH). The players didn’t even have to go outside had they preferred to do so. Last season when i attended a playoffs game vs the Bruins i stayed right next to the Scotiabank Arena at Le Germain Maple Leafs Square. The previous year i stayed across the street from Union Station at the Fairmount Royal York. A buddy of mine who played for several NHL teams told me most teams at the time would stay at either the Sheraton or at the Hilton which are about a 15-20 minute walk. But if i’m the travelling secretary of an NHL team today i book my team either at the Royal York, Le Germain, Inter-Continental or the Delta Marriott which are just a few minutes away or less. Similar to teams staying at the Marriott Champlain when they’re in Mtl.
He’ll play in their next game against Tampa. He’s been practicing full time with the team since he got back from Germany where he consulted with Usain Bolt & Christian McCaffrey’s doctor. He looked great in practice & the team chose to give him an extra game to get ready since they’re 7-1 without him in the lineup & are now on top of the Atlantic division leading the Panthers by 3 points. In other words…no need to rush him back.
If the Leafs don't need him, they could make a trade with the Habs, a one to one trade for Gallahger !
