Oups....J.T.MILLER is taking an indefinite leave of absence for personal reasons from the CANUCKS....hiiii.....not a good news at all for the team.....plus BOESER is injured.....could b a big big game- changer....pour une équipe pour qui n'est rien n'est facile cette année.

Bruins fire Jim Momtgomery
As i predicted recently the Bruins have fire highly regarded coach Jim Montgomery & replaced him on an interim basis with assistant Joe Sacco.

Montgomery likely won’t be unemployed for very long. It’s too bad that the habs have no intention of firing MSL. Jim Montgomery would be perfect for them. Not only is he a very good coach but he speaks french fluently & he was born & raised in the area.

Tavares plays for a team that is ranked somewhere around #5-7 for the cup, according to different odds charts from betting sites. If the Leafs don’t win and he has to sign with another team, what would be his priorities? Family? Money? Or a chance to write his name on the precious Lord Stanley bowl? Logically he will be able to go wherever he wants, obviously no more long term contracts for him but, the paycheck will still be very substantial.

This could very well be a consequence for Montgomery after the altercation between him and Marchand during the game against Utah
For me the bigger problem are the moves pulled by the GM during the offseason. They should have kept Jake DeBrusk, a big winger with character who was a key figure in their bottom six. Giving $8 million+ to Elias Lindhom looks like a catastrophe! He looks like a fourth liner! And the way they handled the Swayman negotiations is a fireable offence on its own! They trade the #2 goalie to Ottawa before they even sign Swayman? That was dumb! All it did was give the Swayman camp more leverage in their negotiations & a big reason why it took more time to re-sign him & led to him missing the entire training camp!

Swayman has been having a terrible season so far but he’s not the only one to blame. Maybe if they had more defencemen with skill they wouldn’t be in this mess. Other than McAvoy there’s zero scoring punch from the blue line. Why did they sign Zadorov when they already have several big defencemen just like him? The bigger problem of the lack of overall scoring. Other than Pastrnak nobody’s scoring plus Pastrnak himself is having a tough start. The problem may be that he doesn’t have a quality centre feeding him the puck. Brad Marchand is 37 & looks 47. Other guys like Pavel Zacha & Charlie Coyle aren’t doing anything. Basically they’re a team with poor goaltending that can’t score!

What they should try to do is coax Pittsburgh & Sidney Crosby to agree to a trade & they should be willing to pay a high price for him. He would give them scoring punch, leadership, experience & a centreman to feed Pastrnak.

Alex Ovechkin out week to week
As Gaby mentioned earlier Ovechkin suffered an injury late in yesterday’s game where he got two goals & it was reported today that it’s a knee injury which will keep him out on a week to week basis.

Matthews in Germany
In other news Auston Matthews who hasn’t played in two weeks with an undisclosed injury is supposedly in Munich, Germany consulting with a specialist. Initially he was supposed to be out on a game to game basis however he likely suffered a setback since he hasn’t skated in over a week. The team doesn’t sound too concerned but my gut-feeling is that they should be worried. I know a lot of people with back problems who travel to Germany for spinal surgery so if that’s the reason why he’s in Germany i’d be extremely concerned.

David Kamph out
The Leafs also learned that centre David Kamph will miss some time due to an injury. They also leanred ealrier that Calle Jankrok underwent surgery for a groin & sports hernia which will keep him out for months. The Leafs are suddenly short of centres with Matthews & Kamph out for a possible extended period. Craig Berube stated they’re looking at various options including trying wingers Mitch Marner or William Nylander at centre. They’ve also called up Fraser Minten from the Marlies.

Thats to show how much things can change on a dime in sports.

None of you guys have mentioned ref Mitch Dunning, who got absolutely creamed by Josh Manson on this hit that Dunning did not see coming:
Just saw this, crazy play, one would think like wtf! Where’s Manson’s peripheral vision? But the truth is when you start focusing onto something, for instance Manson here, is focused on the play and where the puck is going, your vision switches to tunnel vision mode. He might have seen the ref along the board but, never saw that he was in movement towards the center of the ice.

That's what I thought too, Dunning was right in front of him and he should have been able to avoid hitting him but perhaps was focused on the play and has really poor peripheral vision.
Did Manson made any comments after the incident? I would be curious to hear his point of view.
