Mitch Marner To Sign With Vegas!
I think it depends on what happens tonight. If the Leafs win i think they’ll re-sign him. Reason: it’s impossible to replace a 100-points player & Marner is responsible for half of Auston Matthews’ production on top of being his best friend on the team. If they don’t re- sign him this will get local boy Connor Mcdavid’s attention. He has a year left on his contract.

Montreal has also been rumoured to be a destination of choice for Marner. I also believe he’d look good with the Senators who are a team on the way up. Other teams such as Chicago would also be in the mix. Word out of the windy city is that Connor Bedard isn’t a happy camper & is extremely tired of losing.

Speaking of the Leafs & Oilers: Matthew Knies & Evan Bouchard are expected to get very big raises during the offseason. Rumors are that there are teams out their who are considering signing them to an offer sheet.

Ouch! Panthers scored 3 goals without answers in the second! Doubled the Leafs in shots on goal and winned 62% of the faceoffs.

What a disappointment for the Leafs. The Panthers are a really really hard team to beat when they get a 2 or more goal lead.

25-12 in shots and 25-19 in hits. Panthers are winning every stat and the scoreboard

I dont understand how they can come out so flat after playing so good in game #6! I look at the guys on the bench, with 6 minutes left and they look like they gave up, this is not professional, this is not acceptable.

You notice how the Cats barely célébrâtes? These only want the cup!

Toronto lost their last 2 games at home by identical 6-1 scores. The fans who attended those games have to be livid. To not even be competitive is so disappointing. Toronto tried replacing their coach, now it's clear they have to replace some of their players.

Losing a series is a thing, but losing two home games including game 7 with a 6-1 score.....yikes.

I feel sorry for Leafs fans, for once.

Dallas played so hard and well last game that, like Gaby, I feel forced to chose them. I would have love to see a repeat of last year’s final but I dont think it will happen.

Dallas-Panthers

Whatever happens, both Association finals should be very entertaining.

Watch as NHL Referee Chris Rooney is viciously high-sticked by Nikko Mikkola of the Panthers:
Rooney received stitches and is expected to back officiating in the Stanley Cup Finals. I am sure that going forward he will now have a personal perspective and appreciation for any high sticking penalties he calls.

NY Islanders GM job
Word is that the final two finalists for the vacant GM job are Quebecers Marc Bergevin & Mathieu Darche who have both been connected with the Habs in their past. I’m curious if they were asked if they could work with Patrick Roy & promised to keep him as the head coach for at least next season. I also wonder of any of them said they may but couldn’t promise anything. I figure that Patrick Roy likely showed interest in the job & if he was asked which of the two he’d prefer as his boss.

Dude you need to check the definition of vicions/viciously, this was an accident, how can something accidental be vicious?
It was vicious in the way he swung the stick. He did not know the ref was there, but he was very deliberate in how he swung his stick. Distinguish between a vicious assault and a vicious high stick- this was the latter, not the former.

The NHL rule on high sticking makes intent irrelevant. High sticking is defined as high sticking regardless of whether it was an accident or not. If you were able to tell the ref that your high sticking was an accident, we would have many arguments for many minutes, and many hockey games would be delayed by such arguments to the anger of fans. A non-penalty high stick can be done verey deliberately.
"As a non-penalty foul, high-sticking the puck is defined in Rule 80 of the rules of the National Hockey League. It may occur when a player intentionally or inadvertently plays the puck with their stick above the height of the shoulders or above the cross bar of a hockey goal."

"As a penalty, high-sticking is defined in Rule 60 of the rules of the National Hockey League. It may occur when a player hits an opponent's head, face, or neck with their stick in an action judged not to be the result of normal play".

This was a non-penalty foul since Mikkola did not hit an opponent but rather the ref.

Since they never worked with Roy as a coach while they were GM, I would think this is a very hard question to answer. As we have seen, Roy has very strong opinions on players and has been known to very publicly excoriate and bench them. GMs sometimes are not happy about this, and do not like seeing the players they acquired benched. This can reflect badly on the GM and cause the GM to fire the coach as we have seen many, many times.

Sure but in Mikola’s mind right behind him is the glass over the board, I dont think he would have swing his stick this way if he’d been in the middle of the ice rink.
