A 2nd wave, several small waves or no wave?

I don’t think the first wave has ever ended.
As countries are opening up you are getting more infections and it starts spreading again.
Hopefully most countries have learned enough in the last six months and are able to react quick enough to get it under control again.
Then you have some like Brazil, US, India that have not gotten anywhere near getting the first wave under control and it just keeps getting worse.

Remember, that all this fuss with masks, distance, quarantine was only about flattening the curve. Without a vaccine it will get you sooner or later no matter how careful you are. Later, however, is a key to better chances, as medical protocols keep evolving and the mortality rate starts falling.

A 2nd wave is imminent, we are already seeing it starting in other countries.

I agree that this is a serious virus, but it has been over exaggerated a little, hence everyone's overreaction which caused more misery to the world, in my opinion.

Again, I'm not a prime person who would be vulnerable to this virus, nor my friends. I am basically the only one in my circle who hasn't had symptoms, and everyone else got it and beat it.

I do realize, I might have a "i am invincible" mentality right now.

This is exactly why people should be following the guidelines of medical professionals.
Right now your chances in Quebec with under 20 people in Intensive care are way better than when there were over 200 and rapidly getting worse, or if you are in a part of Texas where the ICU are past capacity and it is becoming like Italy was having to make a decision who has a better chance of survival and letting the others die.
Perhaps some will be lucky enough to avoid this until there is a vaccine or a treatment that can cure you.

Actually, if you bring DOWN the curve, NOT flatten it, you will likely not get it, cause circulating virus in your community will likely be very little. So all the fuss about masks, and social distancing was more about what minute man is mentioning. That your gonna get it sooner or later stuff?? Unless your working in an ER or hospital setting. Quite possible if your doin what your supposed to you may not get it until the vaccine comes. And also quite possible you can enjoy some semblance of normal life

I think the US was in their 1st wave until mid-June, because after their peak in early April, the curve started to decline steadily until mid-June when the 2nd wave begins and since that time the curve has not stopped increasing.

I think it might be one of the only countries to have a 3rd wave.

Trump doesn't want such a scenario to happen, because if that happens the carrots will be cooked for him on November 3.

See curve in the Coronavirus's thread, post # 3202

The United States never experienced a dramatic drop in cases marking the clear end of a first wave. Not only does Trump not want a second waive, but neither does anyone else.

Australia: curfew imposed in Melbourne.

Australia announced a curfew in Melbourne on Sunday to tackle the resurgence of COVID-19 cases in the country's second city, whose residents will no longer be allowed to go out more than three kilometers from their homes.

Their 2nd wave is coming.

It must absolutely be stopped.

Do you think there will be a second wave of the virus?
Canada
Yes: 78%
No: 9%
DK / Refused: 13%

Quebec
Yes: 77%
No: 13%
DK / Refused: 11%

These are results that seem alarming, but if everyone respects the instructions (washing hands, wearing a mask, social distancing), I sincerely believe that it could be avoided. But that requires everyone's collaboration.

New Zealand all but wiped out covid19. Its a small island state that is relatively easy to isolate and protect. Yet the virus has popped up again to the point that Auckland has to be locked down . The rest of the country dropped from level 3 to level2. Bad news for the hopes of preventing a second wave. Another sad indicator is that covid 19 has surfaced in another safe country....Viet Nam had its first covid related death last week. Yes sadly second and even third waves are gonna come after the first wave flattens out.

BTW I was thinking that Brazil would overtake the US with the number of deaths by year end.
Now with all those maskless rallies and gatherings going on by careless Americans, the US will continue to lead the world with covid related deaths, till an effective vaccine is widely available.

I think it’s a bit alarmist to say the virus “has popped up again to the point that Auckland has to be locked down”... the articles mention a single family of 4 that tested positive, and officials are trying to figure out how they caught it, and so locked Auckland down to be abundantly cautious.

Just my opinion but in the long run all these lockdowns do is bankrupt people. Unless you never leave the house you will catch this if it was meant for you ( meaning most of us will never get this ), if you go out and enjoy life, visit a pub and spread the wealth, tip the efficent cute waitress. Some may sit at home for a month or three in hiding then decide to go out and bam, either you catch it or you do not ( chances are very slim you will get it and if you do you may not even know it ) or you can live a normal life and enjoy the days. I have done the latter, feel sorry for the ones living in fear ( the ones driving by themselves with masks on ).
Just my opinion, will not change it.

If you live in Canada you may be onto the obvious. If you live in a covid infested area, you could catch it. Maybe not die from it, but def spread it to someone who can.

Not here to change anyone’s mind babes, just hear to say I’m right and a lot of you are wrong

Brazil, India, Indonesia, Russia, US all stuck in first wave.

Europe seems headed into 2nd wave.

Was thinking of stocking up on bullion like American Gold Eagles & Canadian Maple Leafs but there’s a freaking long waiting list.

Is a second wave beginning to sweep through Europe?

Experts are divided about whether Europe really is witnessing a 'second wave' of infections - and what the term itself means.

But while it is undoubtedly the case that there has been an uptick in cases in some countries, including France, Spain, Belgium and Luxembourg, experts are divided about whether this spike in infections really constitutes a “second wave”.

When the second wave will be there, this will take (diving) masks.
