A 2nd wave, several small waves or no wave?

As long as people continue to follow rules out of respect to others, we should see a minimal second wave.

the problem is that we have a lot of young people who don’t care, we have a lot of people who view the pandemic as a hinderance to their civil rights, and some old/unhealthy people still going out.

I admire Japan’s culture where they suffered a very minimal epidemic because everyone followed the rules out of mutual respect. They didn't close down anything.

i keep seeing on social media, youngsters still partying, thinking cuz they are in the suburbs, it’s safer.

I was even invited to a fb page which was for a party in Repentigny. They even advertised it as COVID free party. Someone stupid like me might think “hey does that mean, they’ll be doing tests?!? or expect people who got tested to show up” lol no dumb dumb, just means “party for those who don’t care about COVID" then the person organizing the party started mentioning she will be cutting people out of the party based symptoms but actually it was based on their looks. Oh yeah It’s true good looking people can’t catch covid lmao.

ignorance is bliss

Our first wave is over, our second has not arrived, so we are in between waves.

Look behind you.
For Canada except for Quebec this has been a blip, mostly an epidemic that did not pan out. Treating the entire country like Quebec was pure stupidity.
Mantooba 12 deaths
Saskatchewan 22 deaths
Alberta 230 deaths
BC 202 deaths
Tota...... 466 deaths
Great reason to totally ruin an economy.
A second wave will probably wipe us out completely..... Fuck.

The new cases are more importants.
I think Quebec has just started its second wave. Several regions are affected, not just Montreal.
That's several days of over 200 new cases.

^^^^^ New cases means that they found more cases not that these people recently caught the virus. Every person could be in lockdown and with continued testing you will still find " new " cases.

No, new cases could also mean they found new infections or people that just recently caught acquired the infection. Obviously it also means they found “MORE” Infections, LOL

Like the word " could ". Everything could happen but no proof that these new cases have recently happened.

Quebec is in second wave.

They pretty much made one up. They test the double than in March. The reality is hospitals are empty, very few peoples actually dies from it. Ever since they stopped the disaster that was happening into nursing homes (CHSLD) it has not been anything major. Now its more young peoples that get it (bars, school, private parties) and those peoples heal up or have barely any symptoms.

Soon Legault and Arruda's nonsense won't be able to hold anymore. More and more peoples are standing up, the protests are huge. If he push as far as confinement again, i don't think it will pass. Could be wrong tough.

I have a hard time finding data for Quebec, but I did find an article that mentioned that there were 21,132 tests for Covid 19 on September 11. Assuming the testing is the same or greater, the infection rate is still around 1%. One percent is not a second wave, but it is a reason to be concerned.

Here's a thought, is a second wave inevitable? And if it is wouldn't you want it to start so we could just get it over with? In NY we were having thousands of new cases a day and a thousand or so deaths per day. If I have to go through that again I would rather we get on with it. Canada was supposed to be the country that had it under control and prevented the disease from running rampant through it's provinces unlike the way it has run through the states. So if it's inevitable and all the masks, social distancing, lockdowns, financial hardships etc. won't prevent it WTF are we waiting for? Enough of this fear of the disease to present itself again, let's just get it the fuck over with.

The issue right now is the governement have high hopes on a vaccine. And yes if it work at 60ish % like other vaccines, then thats 60% less chances to catch it and the spread would slow naturally. BUT who knows if or when it will work.

I think peoples just need to be smart at the moment.

If you are "at risk" then be carefull
If you are close to someone that is, be carefull
If you work in a nursing home/hospital, be carefull

Thats just common sense. Its been obvious even before mask (and i maintain those are a placebo for whatever reason) that a visit a the grocery store WOULD NOT be the contamination factor. Unless you REALLY go after it, like see someone you know, go talk to them super close for a long period etc.

The contamination usually happen in bars, private parties, stuff like that, so as long as its young and healthy peoples who get it, its not that huge of a concern. I know there will be some exeption, there is in everything, sometimes you see a 20 y.o hockey player have a heart attack. Rare, not impossible. And its sad for them, but we can't stop living for a few exeptions, just like we won't slow down the speed limit to 40 km/h on the highway cause it would definately save lives. The peoples who die each year are sadly seen as "acceptable losses".

So yeah virus mute, immunity may not be permanent or even 1 year long, but if some peoples do get infected and develop it, for i dunno, 4 to 6 months thats a person less that may get it afterward and spread it. If the vaccine was SURE to be working at 80% and announce to be ready in December, like everybody i would say "fine, lets endure" but since it could be 2 years or even NEVER, we don't know, life must go on. Businesses can't go bankrup and peoples being in big trouble forever.

So... keep the curve "flattened" to an extent sure, don't overload hospitals, but at the same time don't go full lockdown full "we must stop living" because of this virus.

We have control of nothing, we are not seeing the numbers as the US because we do not have the population density. There are states that have fewer cases and deaths than some Canadian provinces. When you have provinces like Saskatchewan and Manitoba with one millionish people you will see low numbers, if NY or NJ and Saskatchewan and Manitoba has reversed populations we would be in the same boat and NY & NJ would be near covid-19 free.

with the recent rapid rise in cases, and it being concentrated in young people, everytime i see a provider lately, it is starting to feel a little like russian roulette

Some escorts feel the same way. Many have gone on hiatus or quit completely. Makes you wonder if they are just concerned about their own health or are also worried about sending one of their elder clients into the hospital.

Yes 2fast2slow, I am also starting to ask myself questions, because I have 3 comorbidities: I am over 60, I have hypertension (and the systolic is a little over 140), and I did several pneumonias, when I was younger.
It becomes a question of probability, and luck, in short as in 6/49

Around the corner
It is not because there is more testing going on.
The second wave is happening all over Europe and here too.
I don't think it is a second wave in the US as the first wave has never been controlled so it is still ongoing.

Should we go on another total lock down, hopefully not, perhaps we have learned enough to be able to control it with locking down only areas and activities that are causing the most problems.
People are getting so tired of being isolated and health care workers are exhausted, our only hope seems to be a viable vaccine soon or herd immunity.

Fradi as of to-day, most counties only have about 10 to 20% of their population carrying anti-bodies for covid19. To reach a 70% level that is required for herd immunity, will take another 6 to 8 months and millions of deaths. Lock downs are inevitable .
Still way too many unknowns about the path this virus, and our efforts to fight it, will take.

Completly agree with you, plus most of the providers that i know loves to party, hanging in bar, restaurants...so it makes me think twice before contacting one of them because of my age :(
