Hey Korbel...here's their Myspace page. You can send them a message!

Am I forgiven?

Right Tech,

Yeah, they really want to hear from me. Myspace compared to perfect physically arousing fantasy twins exerting their magnificent bodies in the heat of Olympic competition, straining every fiber of their being to the limits of their delicious talents. NO! Not unless you send over a case of St Pauli Girl and two or three very large pizzas with pepperoni, sausage, and mushrooms too.

You know splashing around in the water could have caused a "wardrobe malfunction"...with a little luck.

Rrrrumpfff!

Canada's Alexandra Orlando may be hottest Olympian

Orlando's Hot!

Canada has earned an Olympic distinction before a single whistle has been blown or a starter’s pistol fired: We’ve got the hottest female athlete in the games.

So says WebTVHub.com, which rated the 50 most beautiful female athletes at the 2008 Olympics. The roster, which seems unfairly heavy with Americans and Europeans, includes familiar faces like Venus and Serena Williams (No. 47 and No. 43 respectively), Ana Ivanovic (No. 29) and the since-withdrawn Maria Sharapova (No. 2 – OK, we get it, tennis players are hot.)

But the number one spot is held by Canada’s own Alexandra Orlando, the sole Canuck beauty on the list. Truth be told there are plenty of maple leaf minxes at these games, but hey... if we can only get one on the list, at least it’s Orlando, and at least she got the top spot.

The 21-year-old rhythmic gymnast – heck, even her sport sounds hot – also made top mention on a similar list featured on the website for buttoned-down UK newspaper The Independent, which only picked eight lasses as their so-called “world-class pin-ups.” If she can, uh, rhythmically gym as good as she looks, the gold medal’s in the bag.

Hello all,

Well, here's a good reason why I watched.

Liukin grabs the gold

By Stacey Nash
Posted Thursday, August 14, 2008 9:55 PM ET

Beijing - Valeri Liukin won gold medal in Seoul in 1988. Twenty years later, his daughter, Nastia Liukin, added another gold to her family's trophy case when she grabbed first place during the all around final of the women's gymnastics event with an impressive 63.325

Liukin started slowly on vault, she stuck, but her start vaule wasn't very high, leaving her out of the top three. Undaunted, she went on to hit a great bars routine and solid beam routine that gave her a 16.650, the highest score of the night. On floor, she was reminiscent of the classic Soviet style, her valuable DNA on full display.

Shawn Johnson started the night off with a step to the side on her vault, failing to capitalize on her high scoring potential on this event. She hit solid bars and beam routines, but her scores weren't enough to catch Liukin. She didn't have a bad night, but her scores were not as high as was expected and she wound up in second.

There were some questionable scores thrown out for the Chinese athletes when Yang Yilin received a 15.75 on beam. Yang had several major wobbles making this score raise some eyebrows. She finished with the bronze.

Ksenia Semenova, Russia, just last year considered only a bars specialist, had the night of her life and wound up an impressive fourth.

I watched most of this competition and because of some seemingly inflated scores for Yang Yilin, who had at least three clear wobbles and one big misstep on the beam, both Liukin and Johnson needed near perfect performances. Both came through with seemingly flawless performances, certainly no errors any non-professional viewers would ever find. The 1-2 American placement breaks China's formerly perfect grip on gymnastic victories.

Cheers,

Korbel

Michael Phelps: Spitz Says, "EPIC"...Serb Says, "It's Not Right."

Hello all

http://www.nbcolympics.com/swimming/news/newsid=224245.html?GT1=39003

After slimmest of wins, Phelps swims toward history

Posted Saturday, August 16, 2008 11:19 AM ET
BEIJING (AP) -- Michael Phelps won the race and withstood the review, giving him joint custody of the record for most gold medals won at a single Olympics. Then he went off to rest up for his final swim, the butterfly leg of the 400-meter medley relay Sunday morning.

Considering the U.S. has never lost that race, his once-audacious quest to go 8-for-8 in Beijing is now practically a given.

Thus, let the debate begin over just how great he's been.

Skip Olympic terms because he's blown by that, and move into the realm of all sports. So, how does it compare to Lance Armstrong's seven straight Tour de France wins? To Tiger Woods winning four straight major golf titles? To Roger Federer's 4 1/2-year reign in tennis?

Answers will vary. But the fact Phelps is in the conversation proves the bigger point, that his performance the last week has cemented a spot among the greatest athletes of the early 21st century.

"Epic," said Mark Spitz, whose record of seven golds has held up since the 1972 Munich Olympics. "It goes to show you that not only is this guy the greatest swimmer of all time and the greatest Olympian of all time, he's maybe the greatest athlete of all time."

The record-tying victory came in the 100-meter butterfly, and by the slimmest of margins: 0.01 second. An extra half-stroke at the end thrust him past Serbia's Milorad Cavic, who was coasting the last few feet. The finish was too tight to be seen by the naked eye and too important for blind faith in the scoring equipment.

So the Serbian delegation filed a protest and swimming's governing body had to review the tape down to the 10-thousandth of a second.

"There is no doubt the first arrival was Michael Phelps," said Cornel Marculescu of Switzerland, the executive director of swimming's international federation.

Even after watching a frame-by-frame replay on computer, Phelps said, "It's almost too close to see. ... One-hundredth is the smallest margin of victory in our sport. I guess it's pretty cool." Pretty profitable, too, as he collected a $1 million bonus

Cavic watched a replay afterward and said he accepted the results, although the Serb noted, "Technology is also imperfect. The hand is quicker than the eye."

The timing review was done by Ekumbo and a FINA commission member. They confirmed Phelps' time of 50.58 seconds, his only victory in these Olympics that wasn't a world record. Cavic touched in 50.59.

The main timing system is powered by cable and a backup system by battery. Both systems recorded the same times for Phelps and Cavic, Ekumbo said.

"The video says (Phelps) finished first," said Branislav Jevtic, Serbia's chief of mission in Beijing. "In my opinion, it's not right, but we must follow the rules. Everybody saw what happened."

Marculescu confirmed Ekumbo's findings.

"Michael Phelps is the greatest ever," he said. "There is no doubt the question was for him to share or not to share first place. There is no doubt the first arrival was Michael Phelps."

IOC member Kevan Gosper said FINA's decision was based on who touched first.

"I don't think there's any reason for a protest," he said. "In the old days the judges ruled. Now it's the timers."

Bronze medalist Andrew Lauterstein of Australia had yet to catch a super slo-mo replay, but he heard other swimmers reacting with shock and disbelief at the results.

"They couldn't believe Phelps got there," he said, "and I'm sure I'll feel the same way."

Cavic, born in Anaheim, Calif., to Serbian parents, said he came in simply wanting to earn a bronze medal, so he wasn't bitter about missing out on the gold.

"From the heart, I'm really enjoying this," he said. "I'm not about fighting it. I'm not angry at all."

But he knows the debate will live on.

"People will be bringing this up for years, saying, `You won that race,"' he said. "If we got to do this again, I would win it."
from sponsor Speedo, a bounty for matching Spitz's mark that has stood since 13 years before Phelps was born. For what it's worth, Phelps got "only" an Olympic record, not a world mark, after doing so in his other six victories.

MSNBC ran video showing Cavic gliding in with his head up slowing him down while Phelps accelerated in a last split second lunge.

Well done Cochrane. Thanks Korbel for ruining my taped Olympics of the day (kidding)! I just came back home and was ready to watch it on tape delay then came across this post. Now I can watch it and enjoy it instead of being stressed out till the end :)

It is a bronze

After watching the race, it seems that Cochrane finished 3rd. It is still a great performance by the 19 year old kid; bravo!

Hottest Swimmer: Coughlin is hot, but I dunno, compared to some of the other swimmers, from Germany, Zimbabwe, and Australia.

Hottest Gymnast: IMO, Nastia Liukin is hotter than Alicia Sacramone.

Hottest Olympian Ever: Hard to say. I mean, don't forget the figure skaters from the winter olympics, such as Katerina Witt. I simply would leave this category blank.

Sacramone is more of a party chick.
