Maybe the real solution for Covid-ravaged Alberta would be to ALSO shut down Costco. Obviously the politicians and citizens of Alberta have failed miserably so far...as that picture so clearly shows. Haven't those eager Alberta shoppers learned ANYTHING?
I don't know what the rules are and how they are applied in Alberta for Costo and similar stores. In Quebec, when we were on strict lockdown, you could buy only foods an "essential" commodities. Social distancing inside and outside (making the line) was enforced, quantity of customers inside was (and is still), restricted. Usually a trip at Costco or other groceries' store is less than 1 hour. You do not speak much and you do not have to yell. In bars, it is crowdy, noisy, people are yelling to cover music or ambiant noise and of course they are there for several hours. Restaurants have a different picture but you can not wear your mask and eat. Unless you are alone you will talk a lot. As the contamination occurs through the air, well it is far from a safe situation. The cases going down here we will most likely open the patio service soon. With 400 cases daily by million in Alberta, 200 in Ontario and around 100 in Québec (statistic from may 11th), Alberta has to improve a lot its numbers and its way to handle the COVID situation before aspiring to return to a satisfying way of life for all. Another thing that Costco and other did was opening earlier and having the first 2 hours restricted to older peoples. That was when vaccination was just beginning. Now that older people received at least their first shots (I think 80% for 70 years old and over), I don't know if this accommodation is still going on. There are different ways to address the problem but a clear leadership is needed and a captain has to cruise the ship. Everybody has to row in the same direction.
Having 200 people in a lineup outside makes no sense, you have winds going in every direction. As for cases they have dropped from over 2,000 to around 1,500, baby steps.
If I recall correctly stores can have 10% of fire regulations, think that is what they are calling for plus only essential items sold, many roped off areas.

200 people is not the problem if they respect 2 meters, social distancing, and wear a mask. It is as simple as that. stay safe!!!
That is why wearing a mask helps a lot. And at 2M virus are diluted a lot in fact it is like the sound. When you double the distance, there are 4 time less.

The province said 647 people were in hospital as of Sunday, with 186 of them in intensive care, which was eight more than the previous day and a record high in Alberta since the pandemic began.Alberta had 22,280 total active cases, 194,538 recoveries and 2,143 people have died as a result of the virus since the start of the pandemic.

There were three reported deaths Sunday: a man in his 80s in the Calgary zone and two men in their 70s in the Edmonton zone.

The UCP is ruining Alberta. The next provincial election cannot come soon enough. If, by some miracle, the Liberals win seats here in September, it will be because of the rising anti-UCP sentiment.

With 8,496 active cases, 565 more than Tuesday, the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise.
The province also reports an average positivity rate over the past 7 days of 9.01%.
Compared to Tuesday, 26 more people were hospitalized with SARS-CoV-2.
Now 284 people are in hospital, including 59 in intensive care.

On the total absence of Alberta PM on media, an independent group of experts, mainly doctors, take the leadership and gives information to the population. Alberta has highest cases, stopped tracing on COVID. He should resign if he doesn't want to do his job.

Head doctor of Alberta was interviewed by CBC. She apologized for her role in the disaster. It must be gut wrenching for a doctor to have to say that. I really felt sorry for her.

It's been clear for a long long time that many people in Alberta have philosophies different from most Canadians. The stupidity in Alberta's total mishandling of the pandemic right from the beginning has shown that the philosophies of many Albertans are unwise and dangerous.
On July 1 Jason Kenny announced that he was removing all restrictions, that life was returning to normal, it seems that he had forgotten that his voters were humans, and that the virus was still present.
