An Escort asked for Payment by Steam Gift Card

I contacted an escort on Humpchies and she told me she does not accept cash because some bad clients apparently gave her counterfeit bills. She says she ONLY accepts payment by Steam Gift Cards, which I found odd. Has anyone ever been asked to pay by this method? Did it work out ok?

The only thing I can think of that may go wrong is that she arrives and demands that the card be given up front and she empties the card and then tries to leave, but I won't be allowing that to happen. I just don't want to be stuck with a $200 gift card I can't return.

Opinions?

It's a scam that's been going on on Humpchies for the past few months. I think it's already been discussed here. She will ask for the STEAM card before the meeting (Which will never take place btw) Be careful and golden rule in this business.. its always COD !

ps: you should report the ad to humpchies' webmaster.
Mayeb even post the link here so nobody else gets scammed.

Who knows
Yep typical scam, just do a search with” steam” and you will see that the conversation always starts out with «*t’es où ?*». Just that response doesn’t make any sense. I always answer with je suis ici and block them.
They want you to send the alpha numeric code on the back of the card by photo, this way they can cash the card and it ends there.
I believe it is one group of people or a person creating all these ads and the ads all have a typical format for the text with variable photos.

Altough the idea of an SP being a sexy gamer seem cool on paper, yeah its a scam. Steam cards can easily be resold, they can always sell the accounts (so they cash the card before you can do anything)

Seriously imagine yourself asking your boss to get pay in steam cards... how would you eat, pay your bills etc... This does not even make sense lol. Unless escorting would be a side job for her but still... She would work a few weeks, maybe a month, and probably be able to buy every video games she want. And yes she could resell the cards (in the assumption its an honest worker) but i doubt any legit SP would want to go all this trouble, not to mention most peoples wouldn't buy a 200$ steam card on the internet from a stranger, too risky to get scam.

It sounds like money laundering or avoiding taxes, I wonder if the client can be charged if caught.

Steam Cards- Rip off?

Hi guys- Was sending around some inquires to different girls yesterday and two (with very similar phone #'s) stated they must be paid in Steam cards, available at pharmacies, Couch-Tard etc. One of them mentioned she'd be robbed before and this is why. At first this made some sense, but then wouldn't someone just rob your steam cards if it's a replacement for cash anyway? Have any of you guys heard this request before? My limited research showed these cards are used more for gaming platforms. Perhaps it's normal but I've never run into it, especially twice in the same afternoon in the same area. I stayed away as although the offer was good ($100/h), sometimes things smell a little TOO good.

Cheers,
ST

The fact that Steam cards, Google Play cards, iTunes cards and the like are universally used as a payment method for the scammers of the entire planet, makes me think that maybe this is not a good idea.

Look behind you.
^^^^^^ Obvious to some, others need to find out on their own.

Seriously, GoldfingR, you think that cash prevents money laundering and avoiding taxes???

Even Humpchies gives this advice: "Faites attention aux annonceurs qui vous demandent de payer à l'avance par cartes-cadeaux ou par d'autres moyens. Nous ne le recommandons pas et vous conseillons de traiter ces situations avec précaution." Any more needed to avoid?

The part i still can't wrap my head around tough is why STEAM? Would it not be more logiscal to scam peoples with Amazon cards? You can buy pretty much everything on Amazon and it cather to a lot more peoples if you resell them.
