my other anti virus kaspersky doesn't find anything

I loaded AVG 8 the other day, it said everything was fine on my PC. So it is not like it false alarms everyone.

Hey guys, I've tested many anti-virus programs since 1995 & i keep rechecking for the best. IMHO, I prefer to pay for the best anti-virus program out there than to loose my important Documents to a virus. I've tested Norton, McCafee, BitDefender, Kapersky, Avast, AVG, Nod, etc... etc...etc.

Since 2004, I've been using F-Secure & I found its the best that there is, even if you need to pay for it, though it costs less than to clean up a virus corrupted pc. I found its a company that specializes in virus & internet security, even serving many EU governments & worldwide.

Unfortunately, Norton is not a virus company, nor McCafee. They specialize in optimizing pc performance( e.g. star product: SystemWorks). BitDefender & Kapersky have been cracked, so their vulnerable.

The best way to see if your antivirus program is great, first go to PCWorld.com & check their rating. They do Multiple test to antivirus programs to determine who is the best. Second, always do a online scan of your pc. Many of these companies have Online Scanners, where there servers do a virus scan of your pc. I suggest you do many of these from different companies to ensure your pc is safe.

Then also, the best computer is not a pc, its a mac. There is no virus written for Mac OS X & today you can run pc programs on it too, under the Mac protection.

Here are my 2 cents & I hope it can help you all.

Have you tried Online Scanners from Antivirus companies to determine if its correct?

I use Avira anti-virus. It is free for home use; and spy-bot. The combination works great for me.

NOD32 is a terrific anti-virus, its engine was written mainly in assembly and it is faster than any other to process full system scans. The rating for virus definition is also excellent.

Another excellent anti-virus, and probably even better NOD32 is kaspersky, it has very high detections rates.

I've never tried Bitdefender but it's also well documented and well rated.

AVG is crap due to its high use of Ram and slow updates, plus over the past few months several flaws were discovered on the AV engine.

Norton, is slow like shit but I heard that its virus definition database is good and well mantained.

I did not like Norton.

I got a trial version of Norton with my new computer and had a lot of trouble with it. I am very happy with the anti-virus package that comes with Sympatico high speed internet. Some people say that they do not like it because it blocks a lot of things, but in my opinion it is just doi9ng its job.
You also have to be careful about having double pop up blockers that come with programs like the Google or Yahoo tool bars, if you have two working together you can have problems.
