Patent registered by Abraham-Louis Breguet on the 26th of June, 1801 (7 Messidor year IX of the Republican calendar). The Tourbillon (or whirlwind) regulator, indissolubly linked with the name of its inventor, was intended to compensate for the errors and fluctuations in functioning due to the inevitable changes in position experienced by watches.
The invention consisted of mounting the escapement on a mobile plateform (or carriage) which revolved on itself in a given period. Errors were thus reproduced regularly and so cancelled one another out. The Tourbillon was not only one of the most famous of Breguet's inventions but also one of the most difficult to realize.

the other way to make a watch more precise is to accelerate the balance and Breguet does it at 72000 vph so 20 tic-tac per second. My seiko skx007 beats at 18000 vph or any other high end is at 21000vph

not only Breguet is on top of luxury watches but also in innovation. To put a magnet inside a watch , its against all science and art of watchmaking. So they did all the complication in a non ferrous metal , silicon yes we do love silicon :) in a scientifically way ......
here a link to explain the genius ingenious way to use a magnet to make watch more precise and beat at a faster rate .

Hi marc7
Interesting !
Has for watches I love to ware ?
Rolex presidential oyster day date in yellow gold with diamonds at the hours.
One of the best casing around .
Not has high end then Patek or Breguet but more shock resistant ,
Servicing your watches is many times a issue in Canada for Complications and Grand Complications .
A Rolex is easier to service .

Thanks for your quality postings on High watches marc7

That was my other question I wanted to ask you !
When do you service your watch ????
And where ???
Do you ship them outside Canada ???

My new Seiko skx007 whith the movement 7s26 day date and the lume on it last 12h!!!
After many research this movement I think is the best bang for the buck ! Suprisingly no hacking and a very simple but I'll have to replace it in a few years a magic ratcheting hands for the rotor . Less complicated than the 2 wheels used by every one else . Also less efficient than the other , you need more rotation of the rotor to recharge the spring !

Hi Marc
For Rolex Brinkhaus at their Vancouver store they do have a Master watchmaker
approved by Rolex on the premise
For Omega 's Time &Gold the owner is a Swiss Master watchmaker approved by Omega
And Patek was doing it by Otto Friedel he was a Grand Master for Patek in Vancouver also, he is now deceased, however Brinkhaus does have a Master watchmaker approved by Patek for the minor problems
Other brands I need to ship outside Canada from a approved dealer

I have a Tudor. Many people have no idea what that is. It was a gift from my godfather. It is amazing when I am in a room of people with Rolex, TAG Heuer, and Omega and other expensive watches people will comment on my watch. Either out of put down or curiosity. Until they realize what it is and the exclusivity of it. I do not wear it often as I do not often breathe the rare air of the high bucks often.

Chopard Mille Miglia 2014 Rolls Out at Baselworld
March 29, 2014 By Mark Bernardo 1 Comment
Chopard Mille Miglia 2014The newest Chopard Mille Miglia watch, which made its debut this week at Baselworld 2014, is the most distinctly Italian timepiece in the collection, which is inspired by the Mille Miglia classic car race.
Chopard has partnered with the Mille Miglia, and produced special watches for it annually, since 1998. This year, the brand opted to focus on the race’s early years, when it was dominated by Italian racing teams and automobiles such as Alfa Romeo and Ferrari, by creating a watch that echoes the distinct colors of the Italian flag.
The Chopard Mille Miglia 2014 (like many previous Mille Miglia watches, a chronograph) features a red tachymeter scale and hands, and a white dial with green minute circle — the three colors of Italy’s flag. Another nod to the Mille Miglia race’s very earliest era — the 24 original race editions took place between 1927 and 1957 — is the strap. Unlike previous Chopard Mille Miglia watches, which have straps made of rubber with a 1960s Dunlop racing tire motif, the 2014 edition has one made of overstitched Barenia calfskin leather reminiscent of the bonnet straps on vintage racing cars.

a grasshopper inside your watch and it gives you a month of power reserve.... Since Breguet there's not be a great evolution on the Swiss escapement . A new new type of escapement is being developed called the Genequand escapement . Due to new materials like silisium and the capabilities of micro fabrication (printing) and also the technologies of spring material they achieve abetter more efficient escapement .

Really true a one month power reserve is simply unseen and almost unbelievable ,the best power reserve at the moment is somewhere around ten[ 10] days .
Competition will need to adjust .

Interesting

Tiffany and co and patek philippe 150 th anniversary watches

Hi all

A limited edition T150 annual calandar https://www.google.ca/search?q=Tiff...v&sa=X&ei=nEpQVJSzLqHjsATFsoCwAw&ved=0CDsQsAQ,

http://www.jckonline.com/article/28...Partnership_of_Tiffany_and_Patek_Philippe.php
'T 150' Marks Unique Partnership of Tiffany and Patek Philippe
Collector's Corner
By William George Shuster, Senior Editor
This story appears in the October 2001 issue of JCK magazine
Printer-friendly versionsend to friendCOMMENTS (1)
A unique partnership in retailing was celebrated in July by Patek Philippe, one of the world’s premiere watchmakers, and by Tiffany & Co., one of the world’s leading luxury goods retailers. That business relationship began with a handshake agreement in 1851 between company founders Antoine Norbert de Patek and Charles Lewis Tiffany.

Officials of the two firms marked the 150th anniversary of that agreement with a new limited-edition 18k timepiece called “T 150,” the first watch made by Patek Philippe for an American retailer. It was created in the company’s workshops in Geneva, Switzerland, under the guidance of company president Philippe Stern and his son Thierry Stern. Sales of the T 150 began this fall in Tiffany & Co. stores.

The limited-edition watch “celebrates the dedication to excellence that is the foundation of both companies, our partnership, and our mutual success,” says Michael J. Kowalski, Tiffany president and chief executive officer. “[It] is symbolic of the vision [we] have shared for 150 years and will continue to share.”

Only 450 watches will be made—150 in yellow gold for $21,000, and 150 in rose gold and 150 in white gold for $22,500 each.

The timepiece “is a unique expression of Patek Philippe’s unparalleled relationship with Tiffany & Co.,” says Philippe Stern. Its design not only “touches us in a very personal way but also gives the collector something truly rare and valuable.” The watch’s design features the distinctive Tiffany “T” at 12 o’clock and the names of both companies on the dial—the first time Patek Philippe has allowed a retailer’s name to appear on a dial. The T 150 is based on the watchmaker’s patented Annual Calendar watch; uses rectangular windows for month, date, and day displays (popular on watches made for the U.S. market in the 1930s and ’40s); and, for the first time, numerals as month indicators. An engraving of the original Patek Philippe store in Geneva appears on the caseback, with names of both companies on the façade and the dates “1851-2001.”,
