The watch

https://www.google.ca/search?q=u+bo...eQ2jreiBMGlgLgI&ved=0CDwQsAQ&biw=1366&bih=659
In 2000, Italo Fontana realized a longtime dream of launching his own luxury watch company. U-Boat watches embody the force and style of the professional instruments and luxury sports cars that represent the passions of the man behind the brand. 'It took me seven years to develop and refine the U-Boat watches. Inspired by eighteenth-century craftsmanship and intricate made-by-hand detailing, we can now produce a timepiece of rare artisanal quality that reaches toward a new dimension in watchmaking.'

Character and strength are a hallmark of the U-Boat brand. All of the line's timepieces are designed with the crown on the left side of the case - a unique and unexpected element making this timepiece extremely comfortable to wear despite its extreme size.

Zenith El Primero Tourbillon Chronograph

Greetings all

The Zenith Tourbillon Chronogarph

Zenith El Primero Tourbillon Watch

This is actually a tourbillon watch I would wear daily. Zenith's new El Primero collection of watches is a thing of beauty. I have been eying them for a while, enjoying how they look on the wrist. They have now announced a tourbillon version of it.
Now most of the time when a company takes a new collection and shoves in a tourbillon I hardly take real notice, but in this instance Zenith has put together a satisfying set of feature that you could wear each day - assuming you can afford it of course.

Let's pretend for a second that you can. There are two versions of the watch available. Each comes in a 44mm wide case. One is steel with a black and silver dial, and the other is in 18k rose gold with a silver and gold dial. The steel is my choice simply because I like the colors more - but each is quite lovely.

Using the good looking new El Primero watch style case the the movement used is Zenith in-house made 4035D automatic tourbillon chronograph movement. Being a high-beat El Primero movement it runs at 36,000bpm and has a power reserve of 50 hours. The high frequency of the watch gives it added accuracy over other watches, especially tourbillons. Thus, you have something pretty accurate, and it is also an automatic. The chronograph functions are neatly integrated on the dial in an asymmetrical fashion. The subdials are thankfully really easy to read.

Zenith uses a new date display system around the tourbillon window. A small disc with a window in it is used to indicate the date, as it frames the exposed tourbillon window that doubles as a subsidiary seconds dial. The retro functional feel of the dial is what sells me on the looks of it. Not ultra "exciting" at first, the style and easy to enjoy looks of the dial do grow on you.

Turn the watch over and you'll find a handsome exposed movement through the sapphire crystal caseback window. I like the Zenith star logo cut into the automatic rotor. Back on the dial the hour indicators and hands are great. Very complex looking, the hour markers are applied and have SuperLumiNova on them. Hands are sized well and easy to read. You also forget with how simple it is all put together that this is a serious piece of haute horology. I would totally wear one daily. Price is $49,700 for the steel version and $66,800 for the 18k gold version.

El Primero movement is the same that was in the very in Demand and World Famous "Rolex Daytona"

http://forums.watchuseek.com/f2/rol...el-primero-why-huge-premium-rolex-535462.html

Confused Rolex Daytona & Zenith VPH 36000: both based on El Primero, why the huge premium for the Rolex?
Dear all,

With reference to the topic matter, please could you answer this query?

We have the Rolex Daytona (1990s version) (pic for reference purposes only):

and the Zenith VPH 36,000 (or, alternatively, insert any similar 1990s Zenith EP Chrono here):

, both based on the Zenith El Primero movement, arguably one of the finest chrono movements ever made.

How come the Rolex commands such a huge price premium over the Zenith (which can be had at a considerable discount, which is certainly not the case with the Rolex)? They are both based on the same in-house movement, and, after having handled both in the steel, seem both equally well constructed, nicely finished and durable.

Am aware that this Zenith was released in 2009 or so and the Rolex dates back to the 90s, but you can swap the VPH 36,000 for the equivalent 90s Zenith chrono and the question still stands....

Is the Rolex in fact a better watch? Or is this just a question of supply and demand?

It's only a question of supply and demand ! It's like coka cola and Rc cola ! Rolex as a brand name so powerful that it can stand with Sony Apple Mercedes Porsche . It's not cost to fabricates or the hand work on those a watches that make them expensive ! Rolex is world renown brand and Zenith even if it is a much older brand than Rolex does not stand in terms of resale value ! It's like Harley and Honda , demand always trumps value !

Top devlop and test proof any new complications cost money and time so between big brands , even more when ETA was making movements for every one !
Also their is this wonderful brand called Tudor who is made inside the Sam walls as Rolex that you can purchase for less than 2000$

I love that zenith el primeiro open hart

The watch world has many variety here's another one http://www.raymond-weil.com/en/

http://www.raymond-weil.com/en/nabucco-cello-tourbillon/ NABUCCO CELLO TOURBILLON

Loyal to its longstanding source of inspiration, the music-loving watchmaker creates a new star shining in the nabucco collection and testifying to its ability to combine watchmaking expertise with cutting-edge creativity. The brainchild of RAYMOND WEIL CEO Elie Bernheim – the founder's grandson and a cellist since an early age – the nabucco Cello Tourbillon is a first in the world of luxury watchmaking in taking its design cues directly from this noble instrument.

"My grandfather's lifelong love of music combined with my own passion for the cello are the two elements that inspired us to design and develop the nabucco Cello Tourbillon, which is intended as an expression of our brand's imaginative approach to watch design," says Elie Bernheim.

A worthy major new addition to the nabucco collection, the nabucco Cello Tourbillon features fine, clean-cut lines creating a striking contrast with the gentleness of the musical intention conveyed through this model. It embodies a clever intertwining of watch components evoking the theme of the cello and enlivening the vibrant heart of this mechanical hand-wound movement. More than a mere coincidence, the entire musical soul of RAYMOND WEIL inspired this model with its rigorous nature, pure lines, gift for performance along with impressive mastery of watchmaking and musical expression.https://www.google.ca/search?q=/nab...v&sa=X&ei=zWJFVYvXA463oQTLuoHABQ&ved=0CBwQsAQ

Maurice Lacroix Gravity

Greetings all

Great watches from more recent watchmakers Maurice Lacroix Gravity

http://www.mauricelacroix.com/Watch/Entry/Collection/masterpiece-3/Id/masterpiece_gravity-330.sls

Baselworld is the ideal place to see rare and interesting pieces that you won't likely find at your local authorized dealer. One such piece that we really enjoyed is the new Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Gravity. Packing a considerable visual punch from an offset dial and fully exposed assortment, the Gravity offers a huge amount of charm and comes in two distinct versions showing two different expressions of a very cool design.

Available in a more classically-inspired steel version or the more modern anthracite PVD, the Masterpiece Gravity is 43 mm wide and sports a domed sapphire crystal that acts like a magnifier for the edge of the dial. Visually, the combination of the animation provided by the active balance wheel and the static details of the skeletonized assortment, the colorful sub seconds display, and overall fine finishing makes for a very special piece from Maurice Lacroix.

Featuring their new ML230 manufacture calibre, Maurice Lacroix has given the Masterpiece Gravity an all-silicon assortment (balance staff, pallet lever, pallet staff, escapement wheel and escapement wheel pinion) and an alloy hairspring. Overall animation is excellent as the movement runs at 2.5 Hz and so much of the front view of the watch is dedicated to viewing the activity of the movement. Accuracy is ensured by ML testing the Gravity in five positions with a full 50 hour power reserve and then testing two positions again after 24 hours.

Another important element of the movement is that Maurice Lacroix actually produces most if not all of it. That includes even the hairspring, showing that Maurice Larcroix (like others) is getting more and more serious about in-house made movements.

On wrist, the Gravity is sure to bring a smile to your face. The steel version features Clou de Paris finishing on the area around the dial, which is classic in design, with roman numerals and blued steel hands. The subdial for seconds provides an additional pop of color with a red scale and a matching blued steel hand.

Longines watches ,affordable elegance

Baselworld 2015: Longines Conquest Classic Moonphase (Updated with Live Photos and Prices)

Longines Conquest Classic MoonphaseThe Longines Conquest Classic Moonphase, debuting at Baselworld 2015 this week, adds a new complication to the brand’s Classic Conquest collection.
The Longines Conquest Classic Moonphase continues the brand’s recent revitalization of the historic Conquest watch line, which was first patented in 1954 and now includes the vintage-inspired Conquest Heritage family. The design of this watch, Longines says, was influenced by the refined elegance of equestrian sports; Longines has been a sponsor of equestrian sporting events since 1878 and now serves as timing partner to the Triple Crown races.
The new watch has a diameter of 42 mm and contains an automatic movement, Caliber L678, made for Longines by ETA, which combines, among other functions, a chronograph with a moon-phase display. The case — available in steel, in two-tone steel and rose-gold, and in 18k rose gold — is water-resistant to 50 meters.

The dial, available in black and silvered versions, is set with nine applied indices coated with Super-LumiNova. The chronograph’s 12-hour counter shares a subdial with the the moon-phase display 6 o’clock; the 24-hour second-time zone indicator joins the small seconds display on the 9 o’clock subdial; and another subdial at 12 o’clock serves as the chronograph’s 30-minute counter and displays the day and month in a dual window. The date is indicated on a numbered scale surrounding the dial by a half-moon-tipped central hand.
The Longines Conquest Classic Moonphase has a transparent sapphire caseback through to display the watch’s mechanical movement. observed. It is available on a black alligator strap, on a steel bracelet, and on a two-tone, steel-and-rose-gold cap bracelet, each with a triple-folding safety clasp.

We snapped a few photos (below) of the Longines Conquest Classic Moonphase (the two-tone bracelet edition) during our visit with the brand at Baselworld 2015. Longines says the watch will be priced starting at around $3,200 (up to $10,900 for the all-gold edition).

Hublot launches latest timepiece with kobe "vino" bryant

http://www.nba.com/lakers/video/150429_hublotVino

On April 29, Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe welcomed guests to a private winery in the Napa Valley for an exclusive winemaking event and intimate press conference with Kobe Bryant, in honor of the star’s newest timepiece. Known as the Big Bang “Vino,” (a nod to Bryant’s nickname “Vino”), the timepiece is the the world’s first mechanical watch designed to time basketball. After the conference on the great lawn, guests followed Philip Norfleet, Managing Director of the winery, to tour the vineyard and the stunning caves located below the property. An “Art of Blending” session and gourmet wine-paired luncheon in the estate’s private dining roomwas the perfect finish to the morning’s launch. The setting connected both to the burgundy-colored watch’s namesake and inspiration, but also the star’s childhood spent in Italy and Hublot’s surrounding Vaudois countryside dotted with wineries.
Kobe Brant, Hublot Brand Ambassador, said: “It is an honor to launch my second Hublot Timepiece, Vino. When I joined the Hublot family, the Black Mamba was a natural fit, but we also discussed the relationship between basketball, watchmaking and wine; specifically, the dedication of the wine makers to making that perfect blend, the effort that goes into the maturation process and the attention to detail that goes into the art of watchmaking," he added.

Hublot CEO, Ricardo Guadalupe, shared:We are thrilled to celebrate these two exciting milestones for our brand – our first store opening in San Francisco with Justin Rose and our latest timepiece with superstar Kobe Bryant. At Hublot, we strive to be first, be unique and be different, and we work with the best of the best. San Francisco’s diverse culture attracts an eclectic mix of consumers, making this Northern California enclave the perfect location for Hublot. Given its close proximity to San Francisco, Napa is the ideal destination to honor Kobe Bryant, “Vino,” who, like a fine wine, only gets better and more legendary with age. With these launches, Hublot continues to celebrate the Art of Fusion by blending the worlds of luxury, innovation, sports and, now, wine.
Westime is thrilled to partner with Hublot in the best cities on the West Coast, first Beverly Hills and now San Francisco, says Greg Simonian, President of Westime. As Northern California's trend-setting capital, San Francisco is a perfect city for Hublot's groundbreaking timepieces.
The Big Bang UNICO Chronograph Retrograde Kobe “Vino” Bryant, available in Ceramic and King Gold, features a sleek design that reflects Kobe’s personal style off the court. Burgundy embellishments are reflected on the strap, stitching and dial of the timepiece. The Chronograph Retrograde is designed to time the two halves of a basketball game – an innovative concept that Hublot has produced specifically for this timepiece. The dial features a prominent basketball design integrated into a matte burgundy multilayer disc. On the case back, a green glass in rare earth minerals with an interior anti- reflective treatment carries Kobe Bryant’s signature. Available in two versions, 18K King Gold and Black Ceramic, each piece will be delivered with two interchangeable straps – one black rubber and burgundy stitching and one burgundy python with burgundy stitching.

Chronoswiss skeleton chronograph

Hello

The relatively young Chronoswiss was founded in 1983 by Gerd-Rudiger Lang, a master watchmaker who had previously produced movements for other major brands. Lang attached the name in 1982 to the world's first chronograph with a moon phase display and a mineral crystal back, beginning his brand with a first and continuing that standard of innovation in later years. The year 1987 saw the company find its signature design -- a screwed and channeled bezel, an onion-shaped crown, and screwed strap lugs -- as well as launch the Regulateur model, the first continuously produced regulator-style wristwatch. The more recent Timesmaster series pays tribute to racing and classic cars, while the 1993 Orea model indicated a rebirth in horological art with its hand-crafted white enamel dial. In 2012, the family-owned Chronoswiss was bought by a Swiss family of entrepreneurs who have continued the company's traditional production of precise mechanical watches.

A TRAVELLER’S BEST COMPANION
JEANRICHARD adds a further milestone to its Terrascope history and expands its esteemed iconic collection with a new timepiece that will complement any adventurer’s journey and make sure his experience happens on time – even if between two different time zones. The Terrascope GMT – made for the sophisticated globetrotter of today – is a reliable partner that indicates the local time and is equipped with a GMT complication, allowing the owner to keep track of time in two time zones at a single glance.

Inspired by the active lifestyle of a world traveller, the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer has created a timepiece that embodies the values of the Philosophy of Life on another level.

The Terrascope GMT will be available in three-color dial versions, blue, grey and classical black and features a polished and vertically satin finished stainless steel case. While the black and blue dial versions come with rhodium-coated suspended indexes, the grey version has black nickel suspended indexes. The GMT clock-hand is smaller in size and has a blue frame, giving it a clear distinction to the ones showing the local time zone. The high-precision timepiece is adjusted to be on the wrist of a Philosopher of Life who is constantly on the go and appreciates the comfort and subtlety of a well-fitted watch. In addition and to withstand any conditions on the road, the GMT Terrascope comes with a “Rubbergator“ strap in alligator appearance in either black, blue or brown and has a stainless steel folding buckle as a finishing touch.

The essential feature of this timepiece remains the self-winding JR62 mechanical movement, which lies at the heart of this watch and is viewable through a sapphire-crystal glass at the back of the watch.

The Philosophy of Life of JEANRICHARD has been taken to a higher level, with an addition to the Terrascope family that reconciles technical mastery and adventure in one timepiece. The perfect fit for a person who calls the world his home

Speechless I WANT IT

The Silver Snoopy award is a special honor awarded to NASA employees and contractors for outstanding achievements related to human flight safety or mission success. The award certificate states that it is "In Appreciation" "For professionalism, dedication and outstanding support that greatly enhanced space flight safety and mission success." The award depicts Snoopy, a character from the Peanuts comic strip created by Charles M Schulz.

The award is given personally by NASA astronauts as it represents the astronauts' own recognition of excellence. It is presented at the workplace of the recipient with the recipient's coworkers present. The Silver Snoopy award is one of several awards overseen by the Space Flight Awareness (SFA) program at NASA.
The award consists of a sterling silver "Silver Snoopy" lapel pin flown during a NASA mission, a commendation letter (stating the mission the Silver Snoopy pin was flown on) and a signed, framed Silver Snoopy certificate. Snoopy decals and posters are also given to the recipient.

NASA awarded OMEGA the award because the watch helped Apollo 13 time the critical burn needed to return to earth after they came around the moon to accelerate the return journey time they couldn't use the computer as they had only enough power to land the command module so they improvised with the watch

a beautiful gorgeous watch with two barrel and a what they call true beat
but something troubles me
true beat show the second hand jumps from second to second something like a foudroyante .... like a quartz watch....
they say its for marine accuracy so that they can have a precise time when they use the sextant....
yes but you guest estimate even when the hand is smootly running like an Accutron ....

so a bit turn off for such beautiful and expensive watch

Seamaster Aqua Terra “James Bond – SPECTRE” limited edition in stainless steel

Hello all

BASELWORLD 2015: INTRODUCING THE OMEGA SEAMASTER AQUA TERRA 150M 'JAMES BOND' SPECTRE LIMITED EDITION.

In anticipation of the release of the 24th James Bond film 'Spectre' scheduled to open later this year, Omega has created a limited edition Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M model inspired by the Bond family coat of arms. This new Omega just unveiled at Baselworld 2015 over a week ago. The dial, in the most interesting hue of midnight blue, features the coat of arms repeatedly interlocking to create a dynamic pattern on the watch’s blue dial. The coat of arms is also found near the tip of the yellow central seconds hand and a yellow minute track completes the amazing look of this new timepiece. Powered by the completely new Omega Master Co-Axial calibre 8507, this timepiece is resistant to magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss —however the brand played with the 007 number and added it to the gauss rating on the dial as 15,007. The Bond coat of arms is also present on the box accompanying the watch as well as a loupe and an additional blue nylon strap with yellow contrast stitching and deployant buckle.

Among the most striking elements of this 41.5 mm stainless steel timepiece is the oscillating weight of the movement visible through the sapphire crystal case back. This component has been cut and shaped to resemble a gun barrel, a design feature associated with James Bond.

The timepiece is presented on a stainless steel bracelet and will be produced in a limited edition of 15,007 pieces — which we think is a little too high for a limited edition watch. On the wrist, the watch wears true to its size and quite nicely. The blue dial is a true chameleon that changes hues depending on the angle at which light hits it.

Sticker Price $7,350 USD. For more info on Omega

One of Schaffhausen’s most successful Portugieser models. In terms of simplicity, balance and elegance, the harmoniously designed dial is virtually unsurpassed. The legendary Pellaton winding system has been further improved: some components are now made of extremely wear-resistant ceramic; and instead of one there are now two barrels, which build up an impressive 7-day power reserve.
