Anyone lost their job recently?

Still in Canada and the us , we have nearly full employment! I think mechanization , AI, and other technologies will not imped jobs, they will just reduce the number of good paying jobs for the uneducated. People will work but be poorer.

True. Very true.

Full employment does not mean much when so much is shitty jobs. And if on top of it you have zero social benefits... At least in Canada we have some of it which make inequities more tolerable.

A real job killer was GPS, after being properly used it killed many jobs in many different industries.
Another job killer is the proposed $15 min wage, the uneducated better get back to school.

If you stop the progress that kills job you end up making measure to preserve them. Which leads you to socialism...

But one day we many many jobs we won't need. What will we do? Bill Gates idea that we may end up paying taxes to use robot is not that weird anymore...

The service industry will be effected the most followed by production line, all can be done by automation.
