I was going to post some information in one of the Apple/Ipad threads and it appears that they are closed or banned.

Can someone give me the Reader's Digest version as to why this is the case? I did not really pay attention except to read Mod 8's post saying that he was imposing a moratorium on Technology threads until July 1. Since July 1, has technology stopped or have the threads stopped or have they been banned?

the discussions never failed to devolve into pc vs. apple, which predictably begat personal attacks... like the sports threads without a ball/puck. who'da thought tech gadgets trigger testosterone, eh?

I just wanted to post an article about Steve Jobs' recent email exchange with a college student, but I am afraid that if I do so I will be banned for violating some technology ban. It seems that the forum has been abolished and I just want to know what the current policy is.

There is no ban on tech threads, but due to past behavior of certain members, these threads will be moderated closely for insults and personal attacks. Any thread that turns into a "my favorite brand is better than yours" discussion or degrades into a flame war will result in suspensions and the closure of the thread. As long as people stick to the topic being discussed and do so respectfully according to MERB rules, there is no problem with such threads.

The only tech threads that were submitted after July were either tech questions or reviews. I really doubt the usefulness of a thread about a tech article. We already know how such threads end and I already smell controversy.

As a matter of fact, I was about to start a new thread myself titled: Do you prefer Mac or Burger King? Then I refrained because of all those Burger King fan boys :)

Hi all

As you all know, I'm the only active moderator for now. Because of this, I will IMMEDIATELY close any threads that degenerate into a hint of a flame war. We all know Apple/PC threads tends to do that pretty fast: the last one already had a flame war brewing at post #3. Technology threads will be allowed, including Apple/Macs stuff but the above will be strictly enforced.

Thanks
