Quick question

Do all bottles open by hand or do you need a cork screw for some just like

for wine bottles?

Thx

ALL champagne has a cork that pops manually. Should be the same for "sparking wine" (which is essentially Champagne that is from somewhere other than the Champagne region France)...

Half the fun is popping the cork.

How to open a bottle of Champange or sparkling wine

- Hold bottle at the neck with the left hand.

- Firmly grasp cork with the right hand.

- Slowly twist cork left and right, The pressure in the bottle will push cork out of the bottle.

For Champagne or other sparkling wine, the cork sticks out, so you can either ease it out, as GTA refugee suggests, or fire it by digging it out with your thumbs. Watch for breakable things in that scenario.

With wine, the cork is flush, so you need a corkscrew.

I said nothing that was wrong. Your link described easing the cork out, which is one of the alternatives I gave. So how was I wrong?
Their is a right way to do it and your way both will get the bottle open

There is no right or wrong way to OPEN a bottle of Champange

What you want to do is to open it as gently as possible, and not spill any. Just ease the cork out gently and make it open up with a POP noise. Try not to adjetate the bottle and have it squirt out and waste it on the floor. The saber method is for wannabees that may injure themselves, injure others and / or drink shads of glass with your champange. Is that what you realy want to do, take a sharp blade and swisch it at the top of the Champange bottle to cut the top off within a few inches from your other hand holding the bottle? Impacting the glass bottle with a saber or any other object may cause the glass to shatter because the glass is under pressure from the effervescent contents.

How many people do you know can open a bottle that way?

Actually, it's very easy to do and I've done it a number of times for special celebrations. It probably takes less efffort than opening it the usual way. Of course you wouldn't want to do this every time as there is usually a bit of overflow and hence a waste of fine bubbly. But it really is something that every fan of Champagne should try at least once in their life.

And by the way...there will be no glass shards in the bottle as any will be cleared with the release of pressure. You also do not chop the top of the bottle off or even use the sharp edge of the blade. In fact a Champagne Saber does not even have a sharp edge at all. You simply slide the back edge of the blade along the seam of the bottle and the top will simply separate from the rest of the bottle. Not really recommended to do in your living room or anywhere there are breakables as the bottle top and cork will fly for quite a distance.

If you want to see a Champagne bottle explode, just try to open one with a corkscrew. That is the most dangerous thing to do.

Some Italian lightly sparkling wines will have a cork that is only slightly extended, but not flush. Impossible to work out with just your hands, but also tricky to get a corkscrew in to.

A year or so ago, an sp i saw wanted a beer when i asked her if she was thirsty. I told her that the beer i had bought wasn't the twist-off type like most beers today (must have been a Heineken). I didn't have a bottle opener around. Finally, she just took it & opened her beer bottle with her teeth! Oooh!!!

p.s. No wonder i quit my dentist career 15+ years ago!! :D

I have seen that open a bottle with your teeth trick many times. The price to be paid for this is scratched enamel on the teeth leading to tooth decay!
