Right here
originationg from...china ..again
1st case reported in toronto a 51 yr old man
3 in usa
death toll rises to 56
very young old and sick people this can be fatal
whats disturbing is it can potentially mutate and become a pandemic which has been the story of the last few which came out over the years

if infected there is no treatment
it lays dorment symotom free or 5 days no fever or illness of any kind

this is when it is contagious
the virus has a protective envelope is lives in so it can survive on surfaces for 5 days
somone sneezes or coughs droplets can be spread as far as 5-7 feet away

if you touch a contaminated surface then eyes nose or mouth you can get infected

if it becomes bad they recommend
wearing a n95 mask
wrap around eye glasses as if a droplet from sneeze or cough gets in your eyes you get infected
avoid public transport liek trains buses airplanes and especially hospitals and clinics unless it is an emergency

so i guess service providers who find it slow right now could be in for a really slow period if this escalates

but hey 24 hrs on merb instead of 12 is a bonus

The coronavirus is really just a cold xD people died because of respiratory problems and weakened immune system...

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, shortness of breath, body aches and chills could be associated with more dangerous types of the coronavirus. In more extreme cases, the virus may cause pneumonia, bronchitis, kidney failure and death.

not on my list of things id like to experiance in my lifetime

Remember H1N1? It will be pretty much the same. Its obviously sad that even 1 person died from it, but i don't think its the modern "black plague" or anything. Right now we are equiped much better to quarantine peoples, to work on vaccin, and everything. Again the deaths reported are peoples who had health condition from the start.

Look behind you.
If I was always into Asians I would think twice about new girls coming over. Met 2 in Vancouver last year and you could tell they just arrived.

I think it is going to be fascinating which story of early 2020 the media blew more out of proportion.
The U.S. / Iran drone-missile shootout that was supposed to be the beginning of WW3,
or
The Coronavirus which I supposed to wipe out 5-10 percent of the world, based on it wiping out 5-10 percent of a sample size representing 0.00000000000000000000000000000000001 percent of the population.

Interestingly, I have a friend who was in that part of the world when Iranian military shot down the civilian Ukraine airliner, and people there were literally panicked about an imminent war between the US and Iran. The nations out there are compacted near each other like the states are in the US, so collateral damage is a big risk during a regional war.
Any new virus gets BIG STORY coverage until the scientists figure out how to contain or mitigate it. Examples: Legionnaire's Disease, HIV (used to be a death sentence, but Magic Johnson is still with us), West Nile Virus; Ebola (actually if that ever came to the US or Canada, we would see widespread panic for sure). It's always scary until you can figure it out.
Scientists are still predicting a similar pandemic similar to the H1N1 Flu pandemic of 1918 that infected 500 million people (1/3 of the world's population), and killed at least 50 million worldwide. They think another pandemic could sicken most of the world's population, but we better treatment methods availble now, at least in the developed nations.

Even weirder to think so many refuse to vaccine their kids against virus that were eradicated 100 years ago... Putting their kids at risk... Will these same people be afraid of such pandemic?

Yes very true but we also have more opportunities to spread a new virus especially one with a 2 week incubation period that could be spread before any symptoms occur in an individual. Imagine shutting down an entire cruise ship of 6000 with one suspected infection...it happened. In the meantime don`t sell your gold jewelry yet.

Good point, cloud surf. But we also have much more rapid methods to research about the virus, how to fight the virus. And cooperative information sharing among scientists working around the globe to fight an emergency danger like the coronavirus makes it an interesting race against time

An Australian team of researcher already replicated the virus. Which is crucial to better manage treatment, procedure and eventually a cure. They had to wait until an Australian was infected as these fucking chinese did not want to collaborate. Sorry for my chinese rant... But I think they should collaborate more!

I would wager that their infection rate (China) that is being reported over there is probably a lil under what it likely is

Around the corner
Stupid me I went shopping today in a Chinese supermarket, only realized it may not have been a smart move when I went to the cash and all the cashiers were wearing masks.

Should I cancel my upcoming flight to Florida?
