On the NBC News last night I did see other video of the Capitol Police Officer who shot her, and it happened as soon as the door was breached. His body language looked more than panicked to me but I suspect he will get a pass and be cleared of any criminal act as it appears he acted in self defense of himself and the U.S. Capitol.

Authorities have charged dozens of people, 13 in federal court, in connection with Wednesday's riot at the U.S. Capitol involving supporters of President Donald Trump.
The investigation covers much ground as the people involved in Wednesday's attack come from many different states, including Maryland. The urgency of the investigation has increased with the death of a police officer.
The U.S. Department of Justice announced Friday afternoon that 13 people have been charged so far in federal court, and approximately 40 people have been arrested and charged in Superior Court with offenses including, but not limited to, unlawful entry, curfew violations and firearms-related crimes.
This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Very gratifying to see that at least some of these treasonous rightwing loonies will receive some well-deserved legal consequences for their criminal actions. If the American justice system works, it also must go after those who fomented this seditious lunacy: namely certain high-profile Republican politicians.
One difference: Trump encouraged the incident at the Capitol BEFORE it happened, whereas Harris expressed sympathy for the protesters AFTER the event. Trump CAUSED the attack on democracy, whereas Harris defended the Constitutional rights of Americans to peacefully protest.
A second difference: The Trump supporters who attacked the Capitol were committing obvious treason in attempting to seize control of the government and overthrow a legitimate election, whereas the Minnesota protesters were stating their justified displeasure after centuries of inexcusable racism in the USA. Even Republican politicians, Trump acolytes and Trump enablers have expressed their horror at the events of January 6...and understandably so.

One reason there were "only" five deaths during the act of treason on January 6 is, as many have noted, that the protesters were white and rightwing and therefore did not receive the same "special" treatment that racial minorities and leftwing protesters tend to receive.
A second reason is that the police were woefully unprepared...either due to someone's ineptitude or to some very powerful person's orders to not significantly interfere with the violent, criminal attempted overthrow of American democracy. Maybe that explains some police officers holding doors open for the armed and criminal Trump fans and some others taking selfies with them.
