A funny example of waste, small scale: there was a scandal at a school in montreal (bedford) where a group of teachers were terrorizing students.

This scandal affects about a dozen or more schools and it is the implementation of Islamic supremacist teachings in schools; that are supposed to be secular.

This has been happening at an increasing rate for numerous years and little action has been taken the problem has spread to other schools.

Much more needs to be done and there must be financial and criminal accountability.

I'm sorry, but those of you who think that DOGE is about eliminating wasteful government spending are being fooled by Trump and Musk.

Trump and Musk know that by eliminating funding they can:

- kill government programs that don't fit their political agendas (foreign aid, DEI programs, immigration programs)
- protect the rich and powerful and their corporations (eliminate consumer protection agencies, environmental protection agencies)
- target their enemies (FDA investigation into Elon Musk's Neuralink company)

Other than the above, the only 'fat' that they want to eliminate are for useful government programs that serve working Americans, and have no usefulness for their rich buddies.

A rich person does not need:

- subsidies for farmers (Department of agriculture)
- housing subsidies (Federal Housing Administration)
- programs to rebuild after natural disasters (FEMA)
- programs for ex-military personnel (Veteran's Affairs)

DOGE its so-called elimination of wasteful spending are just an excuse for Trump to exercise executive overreach, cutting government agencies and programs, without calling it that.

Please, use your brain and dig deeper, instead of just swallowing up whatever rotten dish you are being served.

Option A- They will reinvest it in useful programs for Americans, such as making healthcare free for all (currently average cost is USD $14,570 per year for those who can afford it), reducing the cost of university education (USD $108,584 at a public school for a 4-year degree), introduce programs for parents to take parental leave, invest in housing infrastructure to reduce the cost of housing, ...?

Option B- They will reduce income taxes for average income working Americans

The risk of diversion of foreign aid to wartorn countries has been a problem for decades. The only way to stop it is to stop the flow of aid that would lead to disastrous consequences for the people in those countries. You don't shut down an entire humanitarian agency because of diversion of aid in one country. Rather you try to find solutions to that problem.

While I like that idea, it is probable to become corrupted like everything else. Nothing will change until serious consequences are levied and penalties paid for past corruption in government.

Once a precedent is set and people know there is serious jail time for their corruption, only then will things change.

It is an interesting premise, but here I believe it is not as simple as implementing measures to regulate our spending. It would be, if there was some intention of investing our money properly. It is just clear that in the last few years, there is none.

A recent example, when the government gives billions of dollars to Telesat Lightspeed —a company with ZERO satellites in orbit and no plan until 2026— to provide internet for all canadians, but the contract specifies that there will be no penalties if they fail, it is clear that they are not looking out for the best of our interests.

That is just one of many similar contracts signed by our government. But hey, at least our money is spent here, isn't?.
It is not like they are sending money overseas for programs that do not benefit us at all... oh wait, yes, they also do that...
