They sure still have a hell of a team out there and a decent quarterback will keep them in a firm contender's position. I am not sure that will be Cassel for the obvious reason he has not proven he can do it. But the reason why the Patriots don't have a solid second quarterback is Brady himself. Why would any quarterback with the true skills to start want to sit
behind the kind of durable quarterback it takes a tank, or one really bad piece of luck, to get him out. That's why they find themselves in this position. But, I think they will find someone decent, and that means they are still a very tough challenge to anyone else.

What i meant, if it needs clarification, is that there's no way Belichick will have ANY black QB as his starting QB. He's an old-school coach who thinks the starting QB has to be caucasian. I can't think of one black QB he's ever had on his roster since he's been in the NFL. So for those who think Culpepper has a shot at Brady's starting job, think again. It won't happen as long as the cheater's still coaching the Pats.
