I saw the investigation. They mix 2 things. Victims of sex trade and these girls who are adults and decide to go in that industry. At some point you gotta take accountability for the poor choices you make. If I jump from airplane skydiving there is always the risk of dying squashed like a bug. Same goes there if I go there and get naked with a man I don't know, there is always the risk of not pleasant things happening. It can't always be good.

No one is coercing these girls to go day after day, they do have the choice to stop and go work at mcdonalds. In essence, the investigation is just saying that adult women are manipulated into doing this, the same way you can manipulate a kid, which is just absurd to me.

I have a few observations regarding this topic that I find interesting:

The way they frame the situation in their "investigation", is that many of the girls are basically manipulated by agency bosses to join and stay and take 100s of clients, now we see most of them seeking to join new agencies by themselves in less than 24 hrs since their agency closed, so this basically contradicts the story that they are being forced to do this job.

A second interesting point is that if it was necessary to literally mention the exact locations of the condos, this makes me think this was somehow specifically targeted at euphoria.... Like why they did not censor that information.i mean it is not a secret as any person can fake a booking request and get them, but why specifically mentioned it during the video???

(So my theory is that police will not persue anyone from euphoria but they are somehow saying hey we now where you meet and we know how the system works, to discourage people from using agencies)

Also they claim the are doing this to help the girls in the industry, however they are then exposing the pictures of their bodies in massive communication media.. is that ethical?? I know the faces are blurred in the pics and is public information in the web but then if they really care about the girls, why expose photos of their bodies without consent.
It follows the same MO since the past 15 years, the clients are the predators and the SWs are the victims and no girl will voluntarily work as a SW so all were coerced into it. It is like stripclubs whenever there is a violent event in one they publicly expose the club like they did with Doric but when it concerns a corporation they cover it up and make the details vague. This is done on purpose. The feminists want it all shut down. They do not care about the girls just to push their ideology and the politicians to please their voting base and the media is aligned with the MO.

Around the corner
Nothing will change.
An agency will close down a new one will open.
The way of reporting is always the same. All women are portrayed as victims and men as predators this is what sells.

Indies will continue and so will agencies but it is always best to be cautious and to do your homework as LE might step up investigations and stings for a while and then it will die down and things will go back to normal and we will have the yearly fan fare during the F1.

I am sure the journalist who did this story is reading the board today and probably enjoy reading us. Kinda like throwing a rock in a fishpound and all the fishes start to panic and move all over the place.

While this will not kill the oldest profession in the world, it certainly will lead to changes and adaptation and these are rarely for the best.

I know they will never show the other side and all the good this business does for both providers and clients. For that tough we can be grateful to the Sonia Von Sacher of this world and such.
Why do those stupid journalists keep writing articles that undermine an ancient industry that dates back to primitive times?

Prostitution exists under every regime: capitalist, communist, theocratic, monarchist, and even in an anarchist state

I think it's important to remember that even if sex workers are technically viewed as "victims" in this system we are not looked at with kind eyes by these people. There are no "feminists" coming to our rescue and taking us out of the industry lol this is just simply not true. Clients are also not victims.

The government simply doesn't care that much about sex workers and their clients. That's the truth. They see us as trash. Nobody actually wants to "save us" and we don't want to be saved. We want better laws that's all.

If anything this "documentary" proved that even victims of violence in this industry and all sex workers are almost used like circus animals by the media. It's a farce. It's fucking embarassing. If most clients are that cruel, then we must be crazy and masochistic for staying there... Honestly it's just not the truth.

Read the following update from the "Enquête" report:
La Presse
After reading that article, I am a little more pessimistic about the future of the escort business in Montreal. While the shutdown of XO and Euphoria may not be direct results of the "government action plan on sexual exploitation" that is referred to in the article, it seems like the momentum is shifting in the battle between the prostitution abolitionists and supporters of a tolerant attitude towards the industry. The abolitionists have now tasted blood and they want more and they have been given more resources to pursue their goals. While they say they want to mainly stop any negative industry practices (underage girls, pimping, violence, etc.), they really want to abolish prostitution completely or greatly diminish the size of the industry.

The agency model of business is the most vulnerable to attack by the abolitionists. The Enquete episode provides the perfect script for how to shut down an agency. The police, the press and abolitionist groups such as CLES do not have to shut down every agency. They just have to harass, intimidate and scare the owners, escorts and clients of a few high profile agencies and that will kill off most of the agencies. This is what happened to the agency business in most states of the U.S. including the state where I live in the southeast.

However, it's probably impossible to kill off the indy business and it may even help the indy business by making it the only acceptable way to operate. Some girls who now work in agencies will switch to indy but many agency girls are either not interested in working as an indy or not really capable of running their own business. The result will be lower supply, higher prices and much less convenient booking procedures for the client.

I hope I'm wrong about all this, but it feels like a new era is dawning in the sex business in Montreal.

It's really hard to be independent in this industry.. it's simply not that easy. It's like having your own business... I don't feel "helped" as an Indy that agencies are targeted. I actually feel worried.

It's highly unethical like I said from what I'm seeing they are making a joke out of this and they harmed a bunch of people. I wish they realized that we are real people lol

Because it gives them clicks.

Its like drugs. No matter how you look at it drugs always existed. You better try to limit and control it rather than be harsh punitive on it. I think Trudeau was 85% trash as Prime Minister but legalizing Weed was his one good move. And im saying this as someone wich last joint was over 10 years ago.

Yes im a user of prostitution. Im bious i guess. But i prefer it to be done the right way rather than cohertion by pimps and such.

And im sorry but the indy way ain't the only way because as its been said by escorts themselves in this thread not every escort can manage the "indy way". Its a lot of work and not every woman is ready for this.

Unrelated but i am curious to hear @Julia Sky opinion. I didn't see you post on it. I would like to see your opinion.

And i agree 100%. I always said it, i am grateful i found this business. Otherwise what would be my life? It brings me joy and happyness and i always tried to "return it". Do i have "kinks"? Yes sure. I enjoy cim...i enjoy cof. Never hidden it. But i would never push it on a provider. If they wanna do it yes i love it. If not its ok i accept it. I try to make sure my time with them is respectful and while im not exactly a stud physically (lol) at least i can be a nice guy?

Its just the base of the whole thing imo. RESPECT

I've read the article for the third time and i draw another conclusion. It referred specificaly at a plan created months ago to follow the recommandations on the report of " La Commission spéciale sur l'exploitation des mineures" from 2020. FROM 2020!!! It took them over 6 years to put something in place on a subject so important and was coming from a official commission lasting months and touring major Quebec cities. Agencies are the least of their concern unless they are dealing with minors. I.e XO. They are presently spining it in medias so they look like "on the job".

It seems that the investigation reeks of selection bias, where only violent/horrible experiences are reported but non-violent proper experiences are left out. If their aim was to really improve the conditions of the industry, then they would have done a better job of journalistic integrity, meaning proper sampling methods where all kinds of experiences of sex workers are equally represented. But as it is, to me, this looks like just another attempt to banish the identity of sex workers or to stamp out the notion of sex work as a chosen expression by attempting to condition viewers' minds to connect it solely to violence. Of course, the violent aspects experienced by sex workers should be actively highlighted and combatted but an investigation that demonstrates an underrepresentation of experiences or voices is not truly an impartial investigation and fails in its feigned endeavours to protect anyone. If anything, it only reveals an ulterior motive. It does not seek to improve. It seeks to invalidate and exclude. This is not surprising, however. Radio-Canada is a highly biased sensationalist media corporation and not just on the subject of sex work.

Bait and click. They give the viewers what they want. It sells.

Keep dropping the bait, and the consequences will be just like Charlie Hebdo; hundreds of sex workers in Montreal will throw thousands of used condoms at the Radio-Canada building for daring to ruin their livelihood

One girl from euphoria told me “If I keep working and paying taxes to Revenue Quebec, I'll never be able to buy a house by the time I'm 25."

"Capitalist media corporation"? :D

Where are you from?

Radio Canada is an official news (propaganda?) agency of the Canadian government. 65% of its funding comes from the government.

How could anyone who is even a little familiar with Canada not know this?

Apologies. I misspoke. It is a crown corporation. So, technically, still a corporation that competes with other capitalist corporations for views and clicks. Technically, it may not be capitalist per se but it still operates inside a capitalist market.
